INOPERATIVE IAC

94 Metro, 3cyl, 5spd, with AC.

Idle Air Control is inoperative. Engine speed does not change when AC is engaged (should speed up a bit to compensate for compressor load).

I have had to manually adjust the idle to not shake so much when the AC is on, of course this makes it idle too fast with the AC off.

Where should I start troubleshooting for the IAC? I have the service manual and instruments.

Thanks in advance,
James

It is not the iac that controls the idle speed compensation for ac. It is the ac solenoid vaccum valve as shown in this thread.

That is, assuming that by "the service manual" you meant the Factory Service manual (FSM), and that your 94 has standard emissions with an IAC and ASVV. If your service manual is something other than the FSM, there is a 1994 FSM available in the forum library. :thumb
