Do the 25 people who live in Wyoming know what kale is? They had a pice of bacon for a state. My state is a 1 step from kale lol

My grandfather saw his 100th birthday and ate bacon every meal (well, bacon or sausage) for at least the 70 years he was married to my grandmother. They raised hogs until late in life. I never saw him eat chicken or beef - only pork.

Edit - He was not fat...

Here he is at age 96 (redman chewing tobacco sitting by his walker):

Coche is quite right. You have to understand what correlation is. Your example is the exactly the same type the tobacco companies used to counter the correlation between smoking and cancer- "There was this one guy who smoked 3 packs a day and lived to 100"

Doesn't mean anything.

But on another note- that's great your grandpa lived that long.

My mother smoked every day since her teens and lived to 87. She was smoking right up until the day before she died. I don't smoke. I trust correlation more than any good genes I might have inherited.

True it doesn't mean anything.. Excess pork isn't for me, and makes me feel ill. but if I eat no bad cholesterol, butter beef ect, I can tell you my stamina goes way down, so it don't mean anything either , but my levels have always been 130-135 . That may change when I reach 90 what my body burns an what is built up.
Give my diet to someone else because I think it's healthy, they may have a heart attack..
Now heart attacks run in the family , but not from clogged arteries , but because they drink 3 pots of coffee a day.
Now does that mean anything? No
I knew an old woman the doctor said "no more coffee" , she drank her heart out and was lively than ever. Finally her family pulled the coffee and within a week she was bed ridden , a month she decline further to her death.

Stress management after your 30s( and even before) may play a big part on how you age also. Shit everyone looks at toxins in everything and ignores stress, which will kill you . Heart attacks, cancer, bad vision, stiffness, erectile dysfunction , acid reflux, and so on.

A 100 year old woman was asked her secret. She said, "don't argue with anyone".

There was a woman I France who lived 135 years and her grand daughter took care of her( she was over 60) drank, smoked, and chewed.

While a friend of mine could quit smoking at 57 he died, on oxygen for two years, still smoking.
His brother smoked more and is still kicking . However the brother ate full meals, whereas my friend ate of small sandwich a day, and drank coffee all day. And was 60 lbs lighter.

There are so many factors that we never account for . I also believe genetics play a small part in longevity, but that has its limits too

Of course it means something.

It means that all the experts infesting the internet who emphatically and definitively say, "Eating this WILL kill you!" or "Doing THAT will kill you!" can't predict the future and are quite possibly full of shit.

My great-grandfather lived in a different time- they had a plate full of eggs every morning, bacon, fatback, gravy, a pan of biscuits with every meal, and everything was cooked with pure lard. He smoked cigarettes with no filters, and would occasionally enjoy a little white liquor. It took 92 years, but all that stuff finally killed him.

Oh god, of course this thread jumped head first in the shallow side of the pool!

That image is hilarious, the kale to bacon. The fact that it is based on social media is HILARIOUS. It's just a 'study' or a 'survey' though, so no worries. Pretty funny though.

Just my .02, I would think every attempt should be made by all of us not to not turn a bacon discussion into a religious one. If someone brings it up, we do have the choice to move along get right back to bacon bidness.
:cheers
