I've been lurking for for a couple weeks and I've learned a bunch, thanks guys. I just picked up a 96 Metro with 206k miles, with the intent of rebuilding the motor and making it "new" again. I had another 96 Metro as a younger man and decided to get back in one. Anyways, here's a couple pictures of what I'm working with.

Body and interior are near perfect

Wow! That's going to be one nice metro. Are you doing the engine work?

The machine shop cleaned it, bored/honed the cylinders, milled the head, did a valve job, etc. Other than that everything will be done by me.

welcome aboard

Did the machine shop hold the tight bore tolerances required of these little engines?

That is one clean, shiny, nice looking block!

May I ask what type of pistons those are, and what the ".050" stampings mean?

I'm not sure about that, I just know he's worked on them before and he had to bore it out .050" because it was a little out of round.

They are oversized ITM pistons, because he had to bore out the cylinders .050". I'm guessing the stamp just dummy-proofs it?
