By the time I got done drooling over the first picture, it already had walls, then a roof, and doors... that was fast! :D

So what's the wife think about not having you working on cars "in the kitchen" anymore?

You know it's getting close when you think of how close you are to being over the hill in terms of feet instead of years. ;)

Looks great Joe. :thumb

Very nice. Already wish mine was bigger. Can't ever be too big. :lol
What does every man with a very nice garage/workshop in the woods, on acreage, away from the wife house, next to a pond stocked with fish want?

A bigger garage/workshop in the woods, on more acreage, farther away from the wife house, next to a bigger pond stocked with more fish of course! Oh, and a few more Metros to keep in it. :D

Sir, you sound like a very wise man. :lol :thumb

How much?
I'm contemplating doing a 2nd mortgage on the house to consolidate, remodel the kitchen and build a 1.5 car garage w/lift.

Don't do just a 1 1/2 garage. Minimum 2 car. Won't cost that much more. Always build as big as you can afford. I had a 3 1/2 car years ago & it wasn't enough. Filled it up with junk too quickly. Loved being a horder too much. :lol

Looks great!

Are you going to put any insulation in there?

Yes.
for the ceiling:
Havent looked for sure but I think a combination of tyvek and r18 held up with wires for the ceiling. Still considering radiant sheet and sprayed in--but so far the simplest seems to be tyvek and insulation batts.----all held up with monel wire.

walls:
2x6 studding between the steel and tyvek and r18 batts with 1/2 plywood sheathing

suggestions??

I blew insulation in the attic in my shop and put the pink panther stuff in between the studs. I covered everything, even the ceiling, with OSB (you will be amazed what you can find on craigslist at a discount). I put 6 sheets of 4x8 pegboard on 1x2 framing to hang tools and stuff. If I had it to do all over again I might (this would be VERY expensive I think) consider using slat board instead of OSB. I do not know how cheap I could get it but it would be one hell of a solution.

It has been a while since I posted this. Maybe someone will enjoy it:
