How much? I'm contemplating doing a 2nd mortgage on the house to consolidate, remodel the kitchen and build a 1.5 car garage w/lift. Edited by TimmyD, Aug 30 2014, 10:13 PM.

Don't do just a 1 1/2 garage. Minimum 2 car. Won't cost that much more. Always build as big as you can afford. I had a 3 1/2 car years ago & it wasn't enough. Filled it up with junk too quickly. Loved being a horder too much.

Looks great! Are you going to put any insulation in there? |

Yes. for the ceiling: Havent looked for sure but I think a combination of tyvek and r18 held up with wires for the ceiling. Still considering radiant sheet and sprayed in--but so far the simplest seems to be tyvek and insulation batts.----all held up with monel wire. walls: 2x6 studding between the steel and tyvek and r18 batts with 1/2 plywood sheathing suggestions?? |

I blew insulation in the attic in my shop and put the pink panther stuff in between the studs. I covered everything, even the ceiling, with OSB (you will be amazed what you can find on craigslist at a discount). I put 6 sheets of 4x8 pegboard on 1x2 framing to hang tools and stuff. If I had it to do all over again I might (this would be VERY expensive I think) consider using slat board instead of OSB. I do not know how cheap I could get it but it would be one hell of a solution. It has been a while since I posted this. Maybe someone will enjoy it: |
