Did you ever locate the correct ECM for it?

Still new, but learning...

Things are starting to get together, and the old ToDo list was getting a bit.. out of date and scraggly:

So, I went over the car and rewrote the list, as detailed and thoroughly as I could:

Then, a couple hours later, some of it was done!

And of course, a few things had been added. Par for the course.

The steps to completion all fit on one white board...

Electrical Summary of the car:
The ECM is out of a standard car, and is identical to the one in the white standard (eng/trans donor car).
The engine wiring harness stayed with the body (auto 4dr), with a few modifications:

  • Clutch pedal switch wired into park neutral safety switch, so it works as a clutch safety switch
  • A connector for the exhaust sensor (I think) needed to be cut off the donor car's harness and soldered into the body's harness
  • Probably something else I've forgotten - maybe the reverse light sensor?

The wiring harness for the dash stayed with the body as well, and there are a few unused connectors from the transmission stuff. Nothing that needed to be added, I think. I did add wiring for a rear-window-wiper (not hooked up yet, but the wires are there now!) and wired in the stereo properly. Also added a usb/12V charging port thing a friend gave me.

It's been a long project, and I have photos and videos of most of it, but until I go through them all, I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff!

Lots of fun ...

It's been a hell of a year.
almost 5000km in, and put the fancy-winter tires on it this week for yet another highway mountain pass drive.
a certain GG expert has been instrumental in getting this thign on the road.
Check your grounds. And listen to myredvert.
Oh, and don't start the car, move it 15 inches, and shut it off, when its cold. It doesn't like that and will tell you about it.
Still lots on the to-do list, but it's a daily driver now. Fewf.

I am a little confused about the 91 Sprint. It has been my understanding that the Sprint was always called a pontiac Firefly in Canada. Then when It was Renamed Geo in 1989 It still was called a pontiac Firefly in Canada. Pontiac Firefly in Canada, 1985 thru 2002? They stopped producing Chevy Metro's in 1999 for sale to the general public in America but continued producing for car rental companys thru 2001. I belive Cami Canada possibly produced the Firefly in Canada till 2002. The turbo was available only two years on the Chevy sprint in America but was available in Canada thru 1992 on their Pontiac firefly. I would love to have a 92 turbo if only I could figgure out how to sneak one across the border. I saw one once in Twin Falls Idaho with Canada plates it was beautiful with its factory hood scoop, spoilers, and flared fenders. Looked like a totally tricked out Geo Metro then I noticed the Pontiac logo on it.
We had them sold under three Manufacturers and they were all the same at the time (95-01) Geo Metro, Pontiac Firefly , and Suzuki Swift (only as a two door)

Certainly not a low mileage driver! My oil change sticker suggests February or 5000km, and I'll hit another 5000 long before that!
Some of the miles are unusual, I've been making weekly ish trips to the city 400km each way.. But I drive about 25km each way just from home to town each day too.
Thus the sprint :)
