For the first time since I can remember I now have 2 jobs! It's not a lot of fun but it's bringing in some much appreciated extra spendy type monies My first job is my main one, performing inspections and routine maintenance on city owned and operated fleet vehicles. The shop where I work at is air conditioned kinda and the labor isnt too hard (and the pay is nice!) so that's alright. I recently got this second job to have extra $$ for spouse/metro related fun. I work mornings at a warehouse unloading trucks and stocking. No AC in this place and it is very hectic. The pay is fairly good but there is a TON of running around and general confusion. Once I get used to it I'm sure I will be okay with such changes. I think total I work just above 60 hours a week now. I can't wait for them extra spendy monies to come in, new stuff for both of my babies (the girlfiend and the car) Anyone else around here work more than 1 job? |

It's tough out there these days. I drive e a Para Transit van for the state. Cover 3 counties and usually drive 2 3 hundred miles a day. Delivering blind folks, elderly, disabled people where ever they need to go.State job, decent pay & good bennies. My other job I don't get paid for. It's home improvement, yard work, and trying to get my vert finished up. I'm usually glad to get back to my paying job so I can get some rest! 60 hours a week work in 2 jobs....kudos to you for trying to get ahead, it ain't easy! |

I'm too lazy to get a second job. AV, I am proud of you having the ambition to earn more monies. Too many folks in America won't even try to get off their butts and get a job. Sitting at home and getting free goodies from the government WHILE YOU ARE CAPABLE OF WORKING is called stealing. This country needs a reset and make folks begin to work for their food. (I'm not talking about the infirm, elderly, and needy). If you are twenty five years old, GET A JOB. if you cannot find a job, starve. That would make folks get off their butts real quick. I'm tired of paying for welfare babies, illegals getting bennies, and all sorts of scammers "getting one over on the man". This mind set needs to change or our country will go the way of the dodo bird. |

Lots of respect for a man who works two jobs. There is no safety net as good as good old fashioned work. I will be sure to cast a vote in your favor, literally. |

BTDT for about 10 years. One job was for the man and one job was for me. My business was very satisfying so it never really seemed like work. Now I am just lazy as hell and only work 4 days a week. Do yourself a favor. Don't get lazy and start spending all the extra money. You should be setting it aside so later in life you can retire at 55 instead of continuing to work two jobs when you are 65. Be smart about it and do the right thing. FWIW, we have a new guy at work who is 22 years old. I did some quick calculations and estimate that he could have a cool $7,500,000 in investments by the time he is 55 if he maxes out his 401K (he works a job on the side as well). Compound interest is a very powerful force! |

I quit my second job as a stocker at Target in May. It feels nice to only have one job! I worked at Target and my current job simultaneously for a year and a half, but 4-8am and 2-10pm(sometimes midnight) don't mix well together. I have been getting lots of overtime lately which is getting old, but the money is nice. Just worked 14 days in a row; today I have off 'cause of the holiday. Last week I worked 54.5 hours and this week was 59. I would actually like another part time job, but only VERY part time, easy, and close to my house. :p

My job more or less prevents a second job. You have to get it approved and it often interferes with being 'on call'. Definitely respect the 60 hour work week. Just remember to take some time off for yourself. |

I work 3 jobs, one is at toys R us unloading trucks building bikes and service . Second job is working at an attraction called odysea in the desert, I run a laser game and a mirror maze. Our new aquarium is coming in 2015. The third job is I work at a butterfly museum stocking the back rooms unloading trucks and keeping things running on the fish tanks. I literally have no free time but it's whatever, got nothing better to do. |

...if the wife would 'nut up,' be motivated and pursue job opportunities equal to her skills / education, instead of settling for cashier at a grocery store, I would not be contemplating a second job. With work / commute consuming 50+ hours Mon. - Fri., my only option is a weekend job, which would interfere with my non-paying jobs of home ownership, car care, kid care and yard work. :headache Edited by TimmyD, Sep 2 2014, 11:06 AM.

I'd rather work 60 hours at one place than 40 hours at 3, just for the driving alone. I would hate to have to be at some many different places. Unless you get really good shifts on different days, then it's cool. I had two jobs once. But it was 40~ hours each week at one place and 24 hours on Sat/Sun at a different place. EDIT: Timmy! I'm right there with you. Edited by Freeman, Sep 2 2014, 11:01 AM.
