Great thread! :thumb

Turbo= I love turbos like no other and "Turbo Dan-O" was my handle on several car forums. Still used it on here even though I have never had any plans to turbocharge my Metro. :doh

Dan-O= Old nickname. It was given to me back when I first started street racing(we had more than one Dan) and it sure stuck! I like it. Only my friends know me by that so whenever I hear "Hey, Dan-O" I know it's someone cool. B-) :lol

Avatar is from a 1.0smallblock video. My Metro, some hot bimbo, and myself. Oh my gosh, silly stuff!!! :rofl

Speaking of stupid Smallblock videos... We need a new one! :deal

personally, i put considerable thought into my avatars on web sites. for geometro forum i used a character from an old comic book.

tubby was nancy's buddy/ nemesis. he was part asshole, part practical joker, and a know it all. :P

tubby wore a sailor suit. i'm ex-navy.

tubby was chubby. i'm an old fat guy.

tubby has his arms folded, giving you a nod and a wink. yep, i'll give you a nod and a wink. ;)

i'll make you guess who i am at the doom site. :D

once at a pirate tv site i had the other members convinced that i was a homeless guy who lived in an old chevy van down by the river, ate government cheese sandwiches at a soup kitchen, and logged into the site from a public library. they completely believed that i used an old shopping cart with tires off a go kart to collect junk while i made my rounds through the city. :P

here at teamswift i am myself for the most part. my life, my professional work, and my project cars are all the honest truth. that's one of the reasons i like gmf so much. i can totally be myself with friends i know and love. as long as i post pics i rarely get the feeling that you guys think i'm bullshitting. :D

My handle is due to the new "truth in advertising" laws. I use it on a couple of racing forums as well. I need to become more creative and come up with an avatar.

Now I figured it out- this is my son and I giving thanks after his last win in his dirt kart.

brsja is an old email address I used to use for the kids school, sports and such. All the letters in "brsja" are from the first letter in each of our names, the first four are from our first names, oldest to youngest, b is for Brian...that's me. The last letter, a, is the first letter of my last name. When I signed up for the forum quickly to ask a question, the old email name was all I could think of in a hurry for a screen name, since I have spent so much time here, I wish I put more thought into it...but it's to late to change it now...picked the flag because I've been to lazy to put up a photo... and I like flags...I'm a patriot... Love this country, and I've been to many...we rock

My handle is from my turbo Dodge days and I've mostly used it for everything since. For years I drove a Lebaron GTS 2.2 turbo (still have one) hence the handle.

My avatar is usually one of my cars. Might update it if I get ambitious!

just change it o moderator, to econoboxer, thanks
Can't! :(
You can, though. ^o)
Go to your profile page, click on the button (top left) that says "Profile Options", click on "Edit Profile" from the menu that drops down.
On this new page, click on "Change Username", left side, fourth link down under the "Board Control" header.
It takes you to another page with just a box. Labeled "New Username".
Enter your desired new name, and once Johnny approves it, you're done!

I like Snow better than hot summers. Snowmobiling, snowshoeing, etc. To get through summer I Fish. And fish, and fish some more. :lol My avatar is me behind my favorite fish, the crappie. Yes, at times, I have a crappie attitude. :D

On other sites, like ArcticChat, I'm FrozenTows. Again, I like snow and I work at a cargo trailer dealership. :thumb

'Bout 10 years ago I needed a user name for ebay. I was listening to punk rock music a lot and watching sumo wrestling on TV. I find sumo fascinating for some reason. A grand-master sumo wrestler has the title of Yokozuna. Punkozuna is a combination of the two. I've used it for years on at least 3 forums - it's not the best forum handle but it's mine and I'm used to it.

My "avatar" is "less-than equals greater-than" or "less equals more". I'm too lazy to take a good picture of the Metro or find something clever on the internet.

Facetious Educated Donkey

Great thread perfesser :rocker

Thanks, this reminds me to change my Avatar. :rofl I have a folder with over 150 jpgs and gifs because it is fun to change them.

"Facetious Educated Donkey" translates to "lacking serious intent; concerned with something nonessential, amusing, or frivolous" smart ass.

For those who have not read about how I came by Bad Bent read on...

BadBent comes from riding a recumbent ('bent) bicycle. When I ride I torture certain roadies. Long ago, I rode mostly ride at 'the speed of wife.' Cruising down the road I see a roadie catching us and I pull ahead, mostly to give him room to pass. They think that catching her was good. My wife says hello as they pass. So if they are nice to my wife (and friendly) I may ride with them for a while. The rude ones just pass her, shift up a gear, give a little sprint and bend their elbows for more speed to catch and pass me. I see this in my mirror and I make a choice... I would either keep just ahead of them for miles (frustrating), let them pass and follow them for miles w/o drafting (frustrating) or just take off into the distance at 1-2 mph faster than them. Really frustrating. I'm bad hence BadBent. :shake The wife is Good Bent... they would pass her, but she would follow them. She was as good as an average male club rider. ^o)

Mine is from my favorite anime - "Mahjong Legend Akagi Shigeru: The Genius Who Descended Into the Darkness".
Did you write that yourself? The way the show is explained actually makes me want to watch it and I don't think I've ever seen a Japanimation show in my life, lol. That sounds pretty damn cool :rocker

Elijah, it is a very deep and at times extremely dark hole you are talking about falling into there. Unlike here in the states where animated shows are generally done for the kids with material for the adults mixed in, Japan never differentiated it as anything other than an entertainment/ art form. There are kiddie shows, teen shows, adult shows with extreme violence, romances, sports, supernatural (some of the best are in this category), horror, daily life, futuristic sci fi, historical, and the list goes on. The series/ movies run the gamut from fun to disturbing. There is so much available now that it pays to do a little research before picking what to watch. If you aren't careful you can stumble into a movie like Grave of the Fireflies and end up in tears. (Story of orphaned siblings after Hiroshima, not anti US, just their story).

As far as my handle and my avatar, my handle came about because I started calling my car Mighty Mouse because of how fast it would go and the color. I bought it from a dealership in 2000 to commute in Texas from Azle to the border of Dallas and Fort Worth. I have always worked the later shift and when the guys in the Camaros would blow past at 90 or more I would pull out behind them and floor it until I caught up and then pace them and laugh that I was still getting over 30 mpg while they were likely in the single digits. Got curious one night how fast it would go and floored it, then had to reach in to the lens and mark where the pointer had ended up when I decided to stop trying (it had a little more to give, but not much). Careful measuring came up with just over 100 mph and the name stuck. Ever since it has driven the color scheme and some of the changes done to the car. My avatar used to be a shot of the car and then Melanie started pestering me to change it to the Mighty Mouse figure Geogonfa made me but when I discovered I didn't have a picture of it for some reason I used a shot of my headliner. A change to the figure will likely happen eventually.

This is the only forum that I do not go by Freemananana. TurboEF is pretty self explanatory, although a life. The chassis code for my car is actually ED6, not EF9, and it's turbo'd. The longer screen name comes with a longer, yet funny, explanation.

Spoiler: click to toggle

As for the picture, it's just my car. Sometimes I use a Gorillaz album cover.

EDIT: MMM nailed it! Anime can get deep. If anyone is interested in a history lesson/quick experience in anime, watch Akira. It's a movie from the late 80's. Definitely one of the best and it isn't very long, so you can delve into it easily.

When I originally set up my first email account many years ago, I wanted something classic car related. My first choice was "Rocket88", but that was already taken. Being from a Ford family, I tried "Cobrajet", which referred to a series of big-block performance V8s Ford offered in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

It was already taken.

"Cobrajet427"

Taken.

"Cobrajet428"

TAKEN.

"Cobrajet429"

T-A-K-E-N.

Okay, I tried "Cobrajet" along with my age at the time...25.

Success!

The avatar is Ford's old Cobrajet marketing logo from the same time period. Figured it was appropriate.
