I had several to pick from at the rental place, and I purposely wanted something ultra small just to see how it drove. This one was loaded, power locks, windows, cruise, air, PS, alloys, if you would consider that loaded. It gave me about 41.5 mpg at 70mph with the ac on and was running at 2200 rpms. At 60 it ran around 1800 rpms and 55 around 1600. I think at 60 mph this thing would do more than 45 mpg. Very tight suspension and steering, awesome tracking, and had no problem cruising at 70 smoothly. Also has a CVT transmission so no shifting. Overall kinda cool car. ![]() Edited by j63812f, Sep 6 2014, 07:33 PM.

Chevy Spark, we owned one for 3 months as a summer run about, handled really nice and reasonably well built considering how cheap they are, personally the car is too heavy for the 1250cc engine and found the transmission (ours was auto) did a LOT of changing gears to compensate for the lack of torque, the main thing that annoyed me was the initial take off, it's like the pulley wheel on the throttle body was oval or something, almost no progressiveness at the start of the accelerator travel, also quite jerky when cruising, if you drove it briskly it was actually smoother and a lot more enjoyable . |

Daewoo and Hyundai have about as much in common as GM and Chrysler. My uncle bought a new Spark with the 5 speed a month ago. He is really liking it so far! |

Yeah, its cute, inexpensive when it comes to a new car. Some of the previous Daewoos had similar "features". One of the little old ladies who worked at the drug store I use to frequent had a cvc axle fail at like 80 thousand miles. No replacement could be found, so she parked it. Ive heard similar stories as those cheap cars invaded our area. Anyone else know anything about this? Yall mechanics, right?

Well they are both made in the same country I suppose The sales guy was quite insistent that the auto was far nicer to drive and smoother than the five speed, unfortunately we listened to him so we didn't take the manual for a spin, wife liked the car for about 4 weeks before she decided it was a, just too small and b, quite jerky, we probably should of paid the little bit extra and bought the Indian made Suzuki Splash, looks almost identical actually, car and engine is much better by all accounts, probably not something you Stateside guys will ever get I'm afraid. |

Actually I think they are quite good little cars and are quite nice to drive, personally I thought ours had a problem as it would almost stall off the line occassionally, it seems like the engine ecu does not talk to the transmission ecu, or maybe the engine ecu speaks Korean and the transmission ecu speaks Cantonese...dunno, maybe it doesn't and isn't supposed to???, anyhow we asked them to check it at it's first service but the dealership just brushed us off, so we sold the Spark and our Forester and Wifey now drives a new Spanish built eco-boost Kuga, stupid name for a nice car, so she's happy... for now |

I personally think that its a nice car and far better than my Metro especially on gas, and didn't you say that you drove with the AC on !! and still got 40+, That's the way to go! When GM bought out Daewoo I think they made out like bandits, and this is one example ! |

I have a friend who has one of these. He likes it. I HATE IT. Although my arguments are limited, they are all I remember of the thing. It's awful in the back seat, I could get past that if I was driving. The cargo space is a joke. Again, I could get past that if I had another vehicle. And the gauge cluster is weird as hell.![]() Not saying it is a bad car, but I don't think I could imagine myself driving it. Glad you had a good time in it! |
