There seems to be a philosophical shift in the sciences from materialism to idealism. We might see the theoretical gain more weight over realism. In idealism it is as the world is an impulse that responds to our thinking, rather than the other way. Nothing might be substantial, it is like a grand simulation, even our thoughts might be a product of this grand machine, something that is actually outside of ourselves. If you pinch yourself and feel pain, that was also scripted by something outside of yourself. In science the perception of a phenomena such as climate change could override the actual experiential data. The idea of climate change could become the reality.

"Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional." - unknown

Forget Descartes and philosophy. Freud's psychology would probably have something to say about your slapping. :rofl

Wife was washing dishes, says "Gee, this (pan) is hard to clean." Moi: "Did you cook something in it? That's what happens when you use it." :-/ :whistle
