I was out bargain hunting today and I found an old photo album WITH photos sitll in it. They range from at least the 1920s (at least one is probably pre-1915) all the way to the mid 60's. I don't have my all in one scanner/printer with me at the moment, but here are the pictures, as documented with my digital camera: An early Model T: ![]() Closer view: ![]() Now it's a model "D": ![]() Can anyone ID this car? Somebody had a bit of a mishap and almost ended down in a ravine. Instead they got caught on the rocks: ![]()

The little voices in my head, which aren't always right in vehicles this old, are saying it's a Dodge Bros. |

In an image search, it's mid 30s, the part I can't match is the oddball doors that open towards the middle instead of opening from the middle. |

"Suicide doors" you mean. ![]() And DANG I found it in my second seach. I was like "Hm.. what might it be? Plymouth?" so I did a 1933 Plymouth search. Nope. Then I jumped to 1936: ![]() Compare: ![]() But yes, the door handles ARE positioned different but aside from that... it looks to be the same car. |

Suicide door is a more modern term I believe. I'm close to nailing it down. Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth are the same company at that point. I have found some indication it may be a Chrysler. Edited by Metromightymouse, Sep 8 2014, 08:52 PM.

Add Desoto to the list. Found a pic of an ad without any additional information with the correct door arrangement. Also found that convertibles used the same door arrangement but couldn't find a hardtop with the doors opening towards each other. I give at this point, Mid to late 30s Chrysler product is as close as I can get at current interest level. |

I knew by the 50's they had DeSoto. (My 78 Dodge's VIN tag still lists DeSoto.. AND FARGO!) But... now the question is: Did they combine makes/models like they do now? After all back then, "Dodge" meant one car (with a 2 door, 4 door version etc), one truck platform, etc. Not a whole line of cars. So a 1936 DODGE may not be the same as a 1936 Chrysler, or a 1936 DeSoto, or 1936 Plymouth... |

Two different cars. 1. doors open differently 2. gas filler neck is in a different place on the trunk 3. trunks are different. bottom pic has a "half" trunk(look close at the trunk line) 4. rear drivers side window is different shape 5. shadow line from rear door handle which sweeps along the top of the fender is missing 6. front fender is different 7. brake lights are in different position. Can we agree that it is apparently a Chrysler product from around the same time?

Well it may not be the same exact year.... but that has to be the same model. Back then they changed aspects of cars every year nearly heh. Sometimes mid-year even. |

Nope. I know too little about this to have even an ignorant opinion with which to agree or disagree. I was just making easy observations/comparisons that related to whether or not it was "the same car," that's all.

After 100s of images I agree, this could be anything. I find Nash and Ford with similar downward curving body lines. Ford with a top opening trunk. Everyone with the same body shape and small back window. But almost no one with the correct door arrangement. |
