We here on the forum are a bunch of frugal peeps. My kid has seen the err of her high data consumption, and is going to downgrade her phone- but doesn't want to buy a new one if she can help it.
Someone- maybe even here on the forum has a completely usable old phone for verizon hanging around they feel like parting with for a good cause? :fon

She is learning how to budget- and it hurts sometimes- but I have to let her struggle a bit ^o)

I've just boxed up and sent my gps unit so she can find her way around without the google maps app on her expensive android. :D

send me a pm, and we'll figure it out.

yes- I looked at prepay phones you can buy- but I think the idea of freecycling useable electronics is good karma :smackface punny- I know.

One thing we did to cut cell bills was have 0 text and little as possible talk then data, instead of using provided text I download text apps, can be annoying at times but they work and only use a small small small fraction of data plan. Can even talk on the text apps if you watch some adverts on wifi so it's free. Any time I can catch a free ride on wifi I do, I'm sure a flip phone would be cheaper tho.

I went with straight internet at home, no cable. $50 a month. I can download movies and stream TV shows on many popular websites for free.

As for the phone; I am sure the OP has it under control. A very simple 'pay as you go' phone will do. Even if it is just calls/limited text.

She's been paying 200+ a month/ its killing her- she has to pay for cable wifi too.
Its a changer for her 250-300 a month for the convenience of a smart device:),
We found out that she can cut her cell bill to 75-80 a month(she still has to pay on her phone, thats why so high), and use wifi in her barracks.
I sent her my gps since I'n not using t- as she said that was her biggest use of her phone(google maps, and driving directions). This is a good thing for her to learn.
When she lived at home she had a talk/text only phone- and she likes them- she knows what shes in for.
:)
And where she lives doesn't have unsecured wifi for camping on- but I am sure she'll take her note 3 and use it in the city if se can find free wifi- I don't see her habits changing so radically.

That said- I have a sprint phone that is talk and text, if anyone's in need.

Turbo3 and Twincam Tweaker

i still use my net10 flip phone. a $30 card activates the talk and text service for 60 days and gives me 300 minutes which roll over and accrue as long as i don't let the activation lapse.

the only reason i have a cell phone at all is so that my wife can call me in case of emergency and so that the city can reach me for emergency overtime calls.
