Does anyone have a copy of the tightening torques and sequence for a 1999 Suburban, 5.7 litre? Just got the cylinder heads back from the machine shop, #4 exhaust valve was seized in the valve guide. They put seat inserts for all the exhaust valves. It got a little hot, somebody mixed Dexcool with green antifreeze; caused some major blockage in the block. I'm going to flush the whole system out with dish washing detergent after I get it together.

Mixing dex with green didn't cause your problem

Good bye

The problem with anti-freeze is that it is a maintenance item. Most people NEVER change their anti-freeze. Green is every 2 years, Dex-cool is 5 years not 15 years!

You are in correct, the service records are impeccable as my brother-in-law spent thousands on maintenance on this rig. He just went to the wrong guy for a few things. The coolant was drained and refilled 3 or 4 times, unfortunately they didn't flush the system when they converted it.

Don't need any specs, I just bought a Mitchell shop manual for domestic (1999) vehicles for $20, a really good deal!

My most neglected maintenance item.

Bought a new 2001 Ford Ranger---its STILL running on factory coolant.

Guess I am "most people" :lol

My 15 years experience as a professional seeing mixed dex not do a damn thing says otherwise.

Might want to check your intake gaskets. They're cracked (or once were) at the coolant ports
