Ok so I have a 1995 1.0 the manifold it self looks like it has a Cat. But all the manifolds that I find on the Web and in the part stores are for a model that does not have this Cat. The part that im talking about on the manifold is as big as a coffee can. Also the manifold I have has 3 studs directly bolting it too the top of the manifold. I've tried to look up 96 97 98 exhaust manifold's and they are all the same except for the one that is on my car. As far as I can tell the only thing that is different on my metro is just that manifold. Has anyone else had this problem? I have bin under the car studying the whole exhaust the only part I can not find on the Web or in stores is this mystery exhaust manifold. Bye the way it also has a O2 sensor on top of the manifold. The only manifold's I can find have 5he O2 sensor on the left bottom side and the hole manifold is a LOT slimmer then the one that is on my car.

How about you take some pics so rest of us can figure out what you are talking about and why do you need exhaust manifold. I drove different iterations of these cars for more then million miles and never needed exhaust manifold for any of them . Did you rear end 3/4 ton with a hitch? |

California emissions, one cat in the manifold, another in the normal location. |

What ever it is it need to go the 2 studs at the bottom are broken and it is causing a massive exhaust leak I can't deal with it any longer. If this is Cally emissions can I just buy the regular manifold. Will it fit I'm assuming I will also have to buy a computer that does not recognize California emissions? |

I think I would change it to regular manifold, your 02 sensor would probably fit, idk.. |

If I remember correctly, there was no actual difference in the fuel economy between the two different emissions systems. If you live in California it's illegal to remove that cat by the way. |

remove- drill out broken bolts, buy new bolts, as well as a new exhaust donut- then reinstall. a pita for sure- but doable. |

the canadian only mk2 turbo3 cars had a similar pre-cat in a pot like that cast into the turbo down pipe. guys, myself included would routinely pull the catalyst media out of the pot and run the oem down pipe with good results. overall i believe that suzuki spent a lot of time developing good exhaust manifolds that actually augment performance. you might be surprised to find that your exhaust manifold is doing a pretty good job. even the federal emissions standard cast exhaust manifold is hard to beat. cleaning up the casting at the ports and gasket matching makes them flow pretty darned well.

Most of those turbo pre-cat removals gained performance because the media was plugged with soot/carbon. Good synthetic 5w30/0w40(preferred) and running premium, solves a lot of the problems those turbos have. Too bad most were run on garbage 5w30 and lousy gas... That's what cracked many housings, carboned up shafts, and caused a whole host of problems with them. That and for some reason Chevy specced hotter plugs in the Sprints, while the Fireflies got the colder plugs. |
