Brought this gem home on 8/24. I paid $1600 for it. Odometer reads 94,000, but I'm sure it's 194,000. The steering wheel and shift knob are worn smooth. The car has a DIY repaint, but it's presentable. Used to be red, but the PO said it was pink when he got it.
Just going to be cleaning it up and taking care of the little things it needs.

Interior is pretty clean with a little wear on the driver seat. The door panels are is kind of sad shape, but there was a 77,000 mile metro at the local JY during a 1/2 price sale. My dad and I did a number to it... :thumb

Posted Image

Posted Image

Couldn't believe it still had this...

Posted Image

Posted Image

The engine was said to be replaced about 15,000 miles ago with new one due to hitting something in the road, but it's not without it's leaks.

Posted Image

Some evidence perhaps...

Posted Image

The important parts. This is much better than my last one ^o)

Posted Image

Posted Image

Was in a hurry to get front suspension rebuilt, so no pics. My bad. This is after with new tires, NOS hubcaps, and a quick exterior detailing.

Posted Image

Posted Image

The tires are 175/70 R13 Uniroyal Tigerpaw ATP II. They're a 65,000 mile tire so we'll see how they do, but I have to say the ride quality is vastly improved over what came off.

Posted Image

Needless to say, I didn't drive the car 200 miles home with those on front. I brought a pair of 13" rims for that. Got 47 mpg at 70 with an hour of stop and go. I think that's a good start.

Welcome. Never been a big fan of the 4 door jobs but I gotta admit, your's looks pretty sweet. What's with the white plastic key pictured with the owners manual?
So you own the killer Chevelle too? :thumb

Thanks. Noting the Chevelle, I wish it were mine. One of my all time favorites, but I'm only 19 and in college. Can't afford one yet. Maybe someone will chime in on the key. I'm not exactly sure what it's for either, but hey it's an interesting novelty item.

Good looking car, I like the silver bumpers, never seen that before.

The plastic credit card key is for "oh crap, I'm a dope, locked my keys in the car" You take it to a locksmith and have him cut it to match your key, by just bending it out from the credit card and then folding it back in. You then carry it in your wallet like a credit card until your dopey ass needs it.

Finally getting a chance to update.

These have already been posted on the Wall of Shame.
Underside of the hood, enough said.

My headlights would sometimes go out while I was driving down the road. This may have had something to do with it.

Posted Image

I knew that the clutch wasn't great when I got it, but it ended up going out a couple of weeks ago.

Spring broke in the clutch plate, plus it was well worn.

Posted Image

Transmission looks delicious...

Posted Image

Posted Image

Also found my that thermostat housing was leaking, although some of this is oil from a valve cover gasket leak. It was leaving a small puddle on top of the transmisison.

Posted Image

Decided to do a little rust proofing while the transmission was out.

Before...

Posted Image

After...

Posted Image

My dad also pulled the rack and pinion out a little and got around there.

The transmission back in after a quick cleaning.

Posted Image

A few days later I put a radio bezel in since that was missing. It's not perfect (a couple repaired cracks), but better than not having one.

Before...
Posted Image

After...
Posted Image

I also did a compression test...

Not sure why the camera kept turning the next 2 sideways, oh well.

Just over 180 on all 3, not bad.

Hopefully, my dad and I can get the catalytic converter swapped out tomorrow, as my power has taken a nose dive and my gas mileage has dropped from 42 mpg (40/60 split city/highway with average highway speed of 65) down to about 35-37 mpg. It also smells like rotten eggs at times.

That's because your cigarette lighter is upside down. How do people expect anything to work properly when they won't do the basics? :smackface :banghead

Been busy with school and work, but swapping the catalytic converter helped. Gas mileage went back up to around 40 and the car is hardly working at 70 mph. Also developed a tick under load, which turned out to be a bad egr pressure transducer. Also swapped in a cleaner egr valve at that time. Will have to go back in a clean the passages in the spring when I have more time. No more ticking.

Also broke my right, front inside door handle... :die

Posted Image

That means both door handles are broken on the door.

And a week ago my radiator sprung a leak.

Posted Image

Ordered the one from Autozone since they had a 20% off deal and free shipping. It's for the better. I'll add a pic of the old radiator. It was pathetic. It only had a 3/4" thick core, if that. The new one is still a single row, but 1 1/4" and since I'd like to have hitch on this car eventually, a little extra cooling wouldn't be a bad thing. Had to straighten out my lower radiator support a little and make a slight modification to make it fit though. I'll add a few more pics of new radiator and modification. Later this week.

Also had a 2-3 code pop up, though no CEL. Bad intake air temperature sensor. To the parts car...

Posted Image

Problem solved.

Also thought I'd include a pic of the interior donor car at a local jy. 1994 4 door 3/3 with 77,000 miles, what a waste.

Nice ride. If it was mine, I'd probably copy member Kik. His is what made me start liking the look of the 4 doors. Never liked them prior to seeing pics of his.

So much for posting a pic of the pathetic old radiator the week following my last post, oh well.

Not much else has happened, but I swapped the seats a week ago.

Old

New

Posted Image

Kind of hard to see the difference, but I went from blue to red and the front seats are way more comfortable.

I pulled into the garage this morning to do an oil change and noticed a little extra red around my hood emblem. I touched it and this was the result...

Posted Image

Great start to the day :lol

Didn't like the painted one, so I took the one off my old metro and glued that one on. Much better

Next on the list: Start cleaning my grounds.
I have some idle problems and a slight miss at idle and I've replaced a few vacuum lines that were cracked. The rest look ok, although they'll get replaced eventually.
