That car is looking good! I really like the bumpers for some reason, they mix with the white really nicely :thumb

Thanks. The silver bumpers have really grown on me. I wasn't sure about them at first.

In an attempt to get a couple of parts out of our basement, I got a little carried away...

Pulled a couple hacked up interior pieces from the back of the car. Notice that the holes cut for speakers aren't even at the same height. :smackface

Then I remembered that I had seen a hint of surface rust in a few spots when I swapped the seats out.
Before cleaning...

After cleaning and scuffing up the surface...

Then came 2 coats of truck bed coating. Did some touching up after that to get rid of the red poking through.

Posted Image

Once that was dry, my dad and I put a little oil in the wheel wells to try and help prevent rust, not much, but every little bit counts.

And the new parts in place

No more hack job speaker install :thumb

Also peeled up the carpet a little more because my dad found a rust hole in the right rear passenger foot well over the winter...wishing I hadn't :O :'(

Posted Image

That's going to take a large chunk of metal to fix...and can't see anything from underneath other than the hole

Brake upgrade is complete. Money well spent. Also finished cleaning the interior. Pics to come, but my parents have the camera and they are on vacation. I took the car on a mini road trip today to visit them at the cabin.

208 miles, 45.4 mpg at 70-75 mph for most of it, so not too bad

Couple of pics from today...

Been a while, but time for some pictures from the brake upgrade. Found one of my control arm boots cracking at less than a year old... :shake

Posted Image

Hubs off the 2000 installed...did have to replace one wheel bearing...oh well still money well spent

Posted Image

Posted Image

Just a quick pic of the car after the detailing and a good rain...I use a Meguiar's cleaner wax, works pretty well and still beads decently after almost 3 months. The car is not garage kept at the moment.

Posted Image

Also pulled a bunch of parts off, including a good transmission, my old metro and hauled it off to the scrap yard...

This car had rust issues, frame horns were already rebuilt and new rockers welded on...here's the passenger side steering rack mount...floorboards were starting to go also.

Posted Image

The engine is hopefully a good core for a rebuild.

Also put the 3rd brake light from the red 4 door in this one since it's been missing since I bought the car and swapped the passenger side taillight because it was collecting water.

Posted Image

Also swapped the turn signals from the red 4 door since they were a bit better and today I changed the transmission fluid again. 2nd gear is getting better, but still not anticipating more than another 20-25,000 miles out of the transmission that's in the car right now.

Not sure...it's a base model that only had rear defrost, so maybe they wanted it to seem "better"

Got an early Christmas/birthday present from my parents yesterday...I'm spoiled :whistle

These will go in once I get the crappy wiring taken care of and my radio in. My dad said they splurged because I plan on keeping the car for as long as I can.

That's a sweet little ride you picked up there... :thumb
I'm currently redoing the body on mine and painting it... I'm dubbing it 'The 4 Door Restore'... I plan on posting up all the pictures I've taken once it's done, but here's some in the meantime just to jump on the 4 door pride parade... I just finished welding on the right side rocker today... I'll include what I did in my engine bay too as far as paint... it only took 2 days and it came out pretty nice... Mine was factory silver, yet it was white down in the engine compartment and inside the gas filler... But that's getting fixed... Too bad your's wasn't shortcut like that...

As it sits right now burning up my Friday night...
