Old Fart w/Wrenches

I'm spending most of my time trying to get my new shop enclosed before the snow hits; but Marilyn & I found the time to drive 260 miles up to Sphenicie's neck of the woods and score a Convertible "with lots of potential" as they say when a good, solid car has a bunch of minor issues....

Here is a teaser that will have to do until I get a rainy day that keeps me inside away from the shop.

Yeah that's the one I went up there and saw on Saturday!! Beautiful drive. Would've probably bought it if it was a hatch in the same condition, or if I didn't already have a vert! I was just really curious! :) I guess your compression test explains the lack of power I experienced when test driving it. The seller actually emailed me back and told me he sold it to the greatest people ever, and Dave, you are a Metro Genius! I hope you don't mind me sharing these.

Truly a southern car:

It ain't Fast?
Who cares loo at my answer to your first question, if your wife drives it once with the top down you probably won't keep her out of it. Buff that paint out! Make it shine.

very nice, dave. ;)

it might not be fast now, but we know how to make them fast. you have a twincam swap guy pretty close to you, right?

get that garage done first. you can spend many hours on that vert in the upcoming minnesotan winter. i'm envious of you rich guys with heated garages and long winters. :P

all i have is the long winter. :D

I think you cut a small hole so it lasts longer/isn't as strong.

That is a beautiful thing.
This is why I love this forum. Where else could you post a picture of a sun-faded, 21 year old economy car and have the first comment be, "That is a beautiful thing." Priceless.... ^o)

Before starting out in an unknown quantity on an almost 300 mile trip, what do we do to prepare? Clean the windshield, of course. :lol In case you wondered, the trim on the door looks out of alignment because the door isn't shut all the way.

The young couple that we bought the car from was very nice. Marilyn played grandma' with their 3 year old daughter and her mom while the husband, an Iraq veteran, listened to me run my mouth about my 50 years of automotive misadventures and helped me do a compression check. Funny, you come for a car and leave with a friendship.... :cheers

You obviously haven't kept current with the state of the art in air fresheners. Read the instructions.... :rtfm

That's to reduce the disgusting STANK coming off of it. A much better solution is to throw it the F away.

Actually, it smelled quite neutral in the car. I could catch a whiff of the pine trees outside now and then.... It was the best smelling 21 year old car I've ever been in. :stoner
