Hi Guys just bought a 2000 Chevy Metro coupe. My commute is going from 8 miles to 27 each way so the metro will be able to really shine, especially because the traffic will always be going the opposite direction. I drove a 87 Chevy Sprint all most the same route (but going with traffic) in 89-91 loved that Car never let me down never complained about my dive gear and tanks in the back and it hated spending time in the gas station as much as I did so it rewarded me for prompt loving oil changes and nice rings of rubber with 53 mpg. Like I said Loved that car. So the new Car 3/5 coupe with a cute little motor you just want to pick up and carry it around to show it off. Runs really strong ( I'm coming from driving A 69 bug that has a 900 cc bigger engine and got between 25 & 30 mpg and would break the Tires loose in all the gears) I'm not planing for the little metro to do that but it got up to 60 mph getting on the free way faster than the Honda next to me and in southern California that is a good thing (I don't want to be a hood ornament on a dump truck) So the good is. Strong running engine, no big dents or little ones in the sheet metal, rust free, A/C blows cold (Sadie My black lab and shadow refuses to get back in another Car without A/C hated the bug) The bad. seats feel like they had my lead ass in them for a 100 years will need to be fixed or replaced, second gear syncro is iffy and the clear coat on the paint has given up and the P.O. seemed to have gone after it with some rather heavy grit paper.(good thing I know a paint whisperer) So I will be around the forum trying to pick up good advise. P.S. I can't believe Vent Shade didn't make vents for Metros between 95 & 2000. Is there another company that made them for the Metro? A car without wind wings really needs ventshades. |

Greets. I have a friend who has a '63 Bug and he keeps telling me that his mpg would rival my 993cc motor with a 5 speed. I often wondered how much truth is in a statement like that....so when I read your ratings it makes more sense now. Thanks for sharing and welcome again! |

Welcome! There are threads about finding and modifying wind deflectors on the forum. If I remember, there once were Metro deflectors but they've been unavailable for a long time. |
