Hi All, I have a 2000 Metro 2DR hatchback with the 1.0 L engine and 5 Speed manual transmission. I recently had the 0420 code on the catalytic converter come up. Since I had to have an emission test here in Idaho done and that was a problem I replaced it. I bought a Magnaflow part 23654 direct fit off of ebay for a good price. It bolted up nicely and everything lined up great except for one problem. The O2 Sensor aft of the catalytic converter on this new part was too far aft. The old location was basically 2 inches behind the catalytic converter. This new Magnaflow part moved it back further and was at the top of an upward bend. The problem it created was that it placed the O2 sensor wire up against the underside of the car. It was rubbing against it and I knew it would fail over time. I know you guys have heard of wiring an exhaust system up with wire but I wired this one down. I bet that is a first. I called magnaflow and talked to one of the guys there. He said that they have never had this problem in this Metro. Apparently mine was the first time for this issue. Have any of you had the same problem? If so, let me know so I have something to go back to this guy with. |

I just want to bump this thread. ![]() If you have the old setup you can take a picture of it and compare the two for the Magnaflow person. I believe my wife's sensor is very close to the underside of the car. They make 90 degree O2 sensor bungs that you can get on eBay for $12 and up. It does get the sensor out of the exhaust flow so you may not get an accurate reading but no CEL.

install the CC upside down, then the sensor will point down. |
