Stereo not getting power

I bought my geo with an aftermarket pioneer stero that did not turn on, I don't know why. I know next to nothing about cars, but me and my dad did look at the spark plugs and he told me it is not a problem with the spark plugs. I took out the stereo and took pictures of what it all looks like, here they are in order going from the stereo back into the car.

Also off to the right of everything is this black box and I don't know what it is or if it is relevant at all: Posted Image

I've looked at the wiring chart here: http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/stereodetail/957.html and am unsure on how to use it.

Thanks

Those crimp connectors are used almost exclusively by installation shops. The wiring there is not real likely to be your problem. You might tug on all of them and make sure none are loose, just try not to pull any off. There may be a fuse on the back of the stereo or attached in the wires there, although I don't see one in the picture. If there is a fuse, check it. Next check the ACC fuse in the fuse block to the left of the pedals under the dash. If both fuses look fine or replacing them with fuses of the same size causes the new fuse to burn out you are probably going to need a volt ohm meter and a willingness to get into it deeper.

And the black box is part of the AC system and has nothing to do with the stereo.

I would double check you have power at the end of the connector. Are you sure the radio works to begin with?

bet you have a blown fuse...check all them with a DMM not just visually as they may look good but are actually bad.

Well if your sterio is not getting power take a wire hook it up to the positive battery cable and hook the other end of the the wire to the power on your sterio its universal for all cars it can be permanent or a temperary.
