Loud hum has developed coming from tank. Mechanic says fuel pump getting ready to fail. $560 to replace. I'm handy, figure I can do this. Id like to replace it with a pump that will be quiet. Any recommended brand? Any one to avoid? |

If you want a quiet pump make sure you buy the one with the foam sound deadening cover. |

If you keep the gas tank full you wont har the fuel pump as much. Drive it till it strands you then thump the bottom of the gas tank real hard with a mallet or rock etc. That will make the stuck pump start back up and get you home then replace it. The pump doesnt typically quit while driving, it quits when you stop for coffee on the way to work then wont start in the starbucks parking lot. Iv had this happen twice over the years so I keep a 5 pound hammer in my car now.
