So, my car has been in 2 accidents and twice the hood was banged out and repainted. Body shop is no longer in business. The paint is separating at the edge and is splitting in the middle or cracking. I dont want to do too much to ruin it since its a fairly new car. One idea was to buy some vinyl and just wrap it. Plasti Dip is another idea, not sure which is more durable? Another idea was to give it a good coat of wax and then cover it in fiber glass to make a light weight replacement hood held down with hood pins or some other fasteners and put the real hood aside. Anyone copy a body part out of fiber glass? Do you need to copy both sides and make a sandwich? I know it will need to be trimmed and surface prepared, painted or wrapped in vinyl as well. Just the idea it would be lighter. Thx. |
