Help me out guys. Is the exhaust pipe from the cat down to the resonator a pipe within a pipe? I have a rattle that is driving me nuts. Could it be double pipes in the resonator? The resonator is about six months old. That's why I replaced the resonator because of a rattle before. I didn't have any rattles until now. When I get under the car and bang up on the resonator it sounds like a weld broke or something. Thinking about cutting out the resonator and replacing a piece of pipe. Think it would be to noisy? How about some ideas? Thanks!! |

to meet federal standards, the pipe from the manifold to the catalytic converter is double walled stainless alloy mandated to last at least 5 years in use. i routinely replace the entire exhaust system from the flange at the exhaust manifold throughout and to the rear with 2" aluminized mill run steel electro-seamed pipe bent to match the oem pipes. the exhaust shop i use charges me under $200 for the work, all in. the engine runs better with the 2" exhaust and the aluminized pipe lasts about 5 years in ohio winters with heavily salted roads. |

One idea is to replace the resonator with a like-sized glass pack. Amounts to the same effect I believe, but more sturdy. You won't have that rattling. |
