I used to run around the pentiction/ summerland area with my t-3 sporting a pair of rubicon 10's, around 135 db at the turn of the knob....it was fun hitting all the twisty back roads with the boost cranked and the tunes turned up loud.....

Those Rubicon soundstream were a high end woofer in the late 90's eearly 2000's It doesn' take much for these cars to get rridiculously loud. I wish mine was a turbo. |

NICE! I'm doing a 145.1dB right now in my Metro. I went super budget though. 2 PowerAcoustik MOFO 15s ($300/pair) and 1 MTX1501D @ 1ohm (it does 1500WRMS @ 2ohm, bought it blown for $50, fixed it for about $50). Box is 8 cu ft tuned in the low 40s. I'd figure with that amazing baffle and with how much tighter your wall is with more than 5x my power, and tuned THAT much higher, I'd figure you're closer to hitting 160. But then again, that's just on paper. Edited by m4ick, Jan 2 2015, 10:15 AM.

I was thinking about getting a 200+ amp cs130 and trying to remount all of my phoenix gold titanium stuff. I talked to a guy who can sell me 2 20 farad capacitors. All I would need it two really good batteries and I should be good. I still need to make enclosures for my midbass drivers. What are you running for your full range? |

actually the higher frequencies are more harmful at loud levels than low (bass) frequencies so hearing is not much an issue. it really becomes an issue at 150+db. that is why most orgs make you wear hearing protection when in cars over 150 db when playing/competing in the vehicle. most of the vehicles that do over the 150db mark will have made a podium for their vehicle so they can control the volume outside of the vehicle. check out a stereo competition some time. it will change your mind on certain things. it takes great detail work to get some of the nicer systems up and running. you think evmetro does bad ass work on cars, check out some custom stereo setups. they will blow your mind. remember, stereos to them are just like metros to us. dont hate, appreciate. check out this build log...yes its long but it has some of the finest craftsmanship. im sure some will appreciate the work done. not all but most. i guess that i take exception to your statement that low frequencies at high pressure levels are less harmful than higher frequencies. in reality it is absolutely the opposite. low frequencies at high sound pressure levels cause extensive inner ear nerve damage through bone conduction so that even if you wear mickey mouse ears you can still sustain irreversible hearing loss. i was a weapons type in the navy and while seated in a radar control chair in a compartment below and aft of the 5"54 cannon i was firing 12 hours at a crack during shore bombardments, i sustained a good deal of low frequency nerve damage from the muted concussive blasts while i was wearing hearing protection. 126db is the threshold for pain and about the level of a jet engine. that pain is telling you something. 150db in the bass regime cannot be ameliorated by using mickey mouse ears and sound pressure levels that high, even for a short period mows down the cilia in the cochlea and damages the nerves. bone conduction of low frequencies is much more pronounced than higher frequencies and even if you aren't slamming your ear drums, hammers, and anvils with huge pressure waves the bone conduction still causes the nerve damage.i just don't want you fooling yourself. you will sustain a hearing loss.

I have 2 9500 mtx 15s no wall doing about 154db on low volume. It hits so hard that the cd can't play and usb continually jumps out os the radio port at low volume. Everytime I play my music with doors open it makes you panic from so much pressure.... yet my goal is 160db with no wall... is there anyone can advise me to achieve my goal |
