Hey everyone, Since this is an intro section I guess I should start.. I drank too much coffee this morning.. My geo obsession began sometime after 2004.. my Brother had just been killed in a motor vehicle accident and my sister in law gave my other brother their very used 94 metro it was not running .. my brother tried to fix it, but became discouraged when along with other things decided he wanted nothing to do with anything from her.. she then told me to get it rdy to be hauled off because if he didn't want it she was going to trash it.. I told her I would like it and she said it was unfixable because they had had it to the dealer 5 times and it still had the same problems.. I told her if she was just gonna trash it why not at least let me try to fix it first.. I found the problem within a few mins.. while checking the fuel.. there was none it had gas in the tank but none to the engine.. so I busted apart the filter to take a peek ..apparently when someone put a new filter on it the inadvertently left the dust cap on the filter and shoved it into the fuel line.. once this got popped out and hooked back up it started right up .. then immediately smoked the alternator belt.. whmy sil told me the alt issue was what the dealer could never resolve.. I removed the belt grabbed the alt pulley and it jiggled and wiggled about like a hooker.. so I got a new one for 12 bucks and used that vehicle for 4 yrs.. until the timing belt came loose then I changed that and it never ran quite the same I think I changed the balance of the motor ..because either the crank or the cam turned some without the other "in time" with the other.. never could get it back right .. I left crank on TDC and rotated cam a full turn put back together and still the same results.. tried this many times.. to no avail.. it still ran just not like I felt it shouldahad.. and as I said it was very used and the houston,tx roads are a terror at best on a vehicle .. I put time and money and energy into fixing up the front end rear end and the underside of a neglected car.. then the engine just quit.. I bought a new motor and in the process of changing it out discovered I had cancer.. well 2 yrs later everything is just as I walked away from it my new motor sitting on the ground locked up and the old car just sitting there rotting .. ugg ... I just bought another 2 dr 94 metro for 800 and it has an automatic, but I bought it for someone else .. I have installed brakes and new tires.. runs like a champ.. while my spouse was at work she came out to discover a man parked in a truck behind her new automatic metro and he said he had been waiting for hours and was about to leave a note , the note read I have a 93 metro that I will sell for 600 if you want it, I wanted it and bought it ..thinking that a 2 door body of a 93 is compatible with a 4 door of a 94 yr model .. much to my dismay very few body parts will exchange.. the 93 runs well enough but it has the indications of neglect to an extreme.. it runs but not well it has shifting issues and the interior and the body are in sad shape.... I had to remove the door handle on the inside so I can unlock and release the door lever to get out .. a hole weas drilled into the door handle on the outside and the release mechanism was pushed through in order to be able to open the door from the outside..ROFL. and the window regulator was cut and no longer will hold the window regulator handle.. and I am a smoker.. so that's a drag.. .. at any rate my spounse wants some bread.. and I think I have introduced myself sufficiently Nice to meet and thanks for the help |

That's okay, we forgive you........ Welcome! So you fixed your car like this? Window regulator and latch handle problems are very common, but pretty simple. All the answers are here, just search for them. Edited by Woodie, Dec 17 2014, 06:42 AM.
