The OP has stated that none of those items are part of the car anymore. No dome light or door switch.
I caught that part. When I asked if there were any years or models that didn't have the audio alarms, I wasn't asking if perhaps he had one in his, I was just asking if there were any years/models that didn't have them originally. :D

Sometimes, an innocent question is just an innocent question... ;)

You did pretty good only thing is I wouldn't cut the ground, just splice in to it.
I won't claim to always be right, and occasionally get my brain twisted around backwards, but in this instance if you don't cut the wire you are hooking both ends of the relay to ground. The current will follow the path of least resistance to ground, since it's already there it has no reason to go through the relay.

I will even admit I was fighting with myself on this as well and was setting up to test, but fell back on my memory of my classes from 87-89.

Memory might be faulty... I can guarantee it will work as designed here and this adds the option of having the lights turn off with the key. You could even add a push button switch to override it.

the circuit turns the lights off with the switch but leaves the buzzer buzzing any way.

If you look at the tail light circuit, since taillights are always on with head lights. They operate normally, Switched Positive so a buzzer can be used with out a relay.

If the headlight switch is off there is no current to power the buzzer.

What are you using to turn the buzzer on only when the key is off? Based on what you are saying, the buzzer would be on with the lights.

The buzzer conects to the tail lights and acc wire. When key is off the acc wire goes to ground through its devices. Its enough current flow for the buzzer.

I'm sure that works but I doubt a single modern manufacturer would do it that way.

Same thing.

Again, I'm sure that works but I doubt any modern manufacturer would do it that way. If you design a circuit to carry current in one direction, you don't want current going back through it in the other direction. I would not call someone an idiot for doing it that way, but I would tell them I wouldn't be comfortable doing it that way on my own car. The chance of something going wrong and putting a reverse voltage spike through something and frying it is just a risk I wouldn't be willing to take when a relay can be had for very little money.

Thanks for posting that since it gives anyone reading this another option for how to accomplish this.

Either way you do it you still have to use the tail light circuit and not the head light circuit.

Just curious, but were there years/models that did not have the audio alarm, or is this something that is being added when the module is no longer working?

Mine never worked when I got my 91 Vert, and while looking at the schematics I noticed there is something in the module called the "Ignition Key In/Lights On Control" tied to the LH door jamb switch.

Once I fixed the door jamb switch, both the key and lights alarm started working again.
My headlight/key in buzzer works... on rare occasions. It is very quiet when it actually does work. My dome light does not work with the doors. How did you fix the door jamb switch? When I press on the switches in either of my door jambs, I get nothing! Thanks!
