the idle up signal when car is rolling comes from the vss. the vss doesnt have a very strong signal.....there has been many threads about problems with "mpg guages" having issues with that signal. also, you may have a dianostic mode that was cycling through, or a "learning cycle" from what your descriobing......your geo is working good now. i would just drive it and enjoy......dont break it looking for a problem

My VSS works, I have a ultragauge and it always worked. I think you are right about the learning cycle. I have had my battery disconnected on both my cars and they are doing similar things. Must be a diagnostic program it runs to check out the system. I don't remember reading anything in the fsm about it. Where would I find more info on it? Edited by freegeo, Mar 17 2015, 11:34 PM.

when i find that section......ill tell you. i do know that each code has certain high and low paramiters that must be met to trigger the cel. further more, it disregards the error unless certain conditions are met. some systems are run through cycles even when not needed to confirm operation. i couldnt tell you more off the top of my head....not know. gotta read more. i do have a 97 manual now...finaly.......and the 94 on my tablet. i want a 98 one also. |

Been a week or so now and the car has been back to normal. I did not adjust anything else. There for a few days the idle would drop down to a normal idle while the car was still moving. It now holds about a 1500 rpm idles until the car comes to a complete stop. Then the idle goes to the normal 850 rpm's. I not going to touch anything else. |
