I found my extra egr valve and it was pretty clean. I cleaned out the ports some more and put it on. Let it warm up and the idle seems better. Drove it to the store and back and ran good. Only thing I noticed is when I pulled up in front of the house the idle went down to 850 like it should, but then surges slightly up to 1050 rpm's twice and then settled back down.

Looks like I need to go back and check my TPS and timing again and see where they are now. May need a slight adjustment.

I'll drive it some more over the next few days and post how it is doing.

If the egr valve was leaking would that make the ECU richen the engine even at idle, or does it use it's own mapping just for idle?

There was some carbon build up (small amount) in the intake manifold opening. Opening that has flow after it has already went thru the egr valve.

yes your TPS is probably just a hair off now.....

the fact that it only surged lightly and twice is very good.....it may not do this again.
did you pull your tail light fuse to clear the ecm codes?.....should be 30 seconds IIRC.....if not the few light surges may have been a self test checking to see if everything was corrected.....in which case the cel will disappear soon.

the carbon tracking is from the dirty exhaust gas being in the intake thanks to your stuck open egr and wet fuel....its just sticking inside your manifold.....it will wash out.

idle mapping and full throttle mapping are different......but your computer has many many maps to choose from based on many different variables.

I got the PO400 code again. Have to do some more checking and see what is happening with it.

Went to pull a part today and picked up a EGR pressure transducer and the EGR solenoid vacuum valve. I put them both on after i got back and took it for a drive. Drove probably 5 miles and did everything I could not get it to stumble or die and it never did it. :cheers :banana :bacondance I believe it is fixed. Should be for everything I have adjusted or replaced on it. Not sure which piece was bad but glad it now works normal.

It is not running bad but I have noticed that since changing the EGR stuff, the idle doesn't stay up until the vehicle stops complete.

I did try pushing the car in neutral with the engine at a idle and the idle did not raise.

Last time I tried this it did raise when pushed.

funny thing.....my last round of electrical cleaning smoothed every thing out.
cold fast idle is lower, and goes down faster, rolling idle increase is now very little.

it will change again tomarrow.
cel is on for evap system.......blow air through the purge control solinoid.....means the valve is
bad. also means i had a continues vacuum leak.

Last night coming home from work the rpm's worked right. I didn't change anything. Seems like it runs in a cycle or something. I'll do some more reading in the FSM and se what I can figure out.
