So looking around for clusters for my swift and I found this

Looks like it would fit, looks pretty modern and I was looking at the back to see what type of plugs it uses

With a wiring diagram and a little soldering, you guys think its possible? I know that these are 4 cylinder but could we add a resistor or something like that and convert it to 3 cylinder, would not be an issue for those people with 4 Cylinder.

Sure looks close doesn't it? I believe the wiring itself can be done without too much trouble. But you'll have to actually place it in the dash to see if it'll physically fit.

Seems like the hardest part to make work would be the speedometer considering the metro uses a cable and a car as modern as the Forenza probably doesn't.

I had a similar thought but the amount of work required is enormous. You're not just looking at the speedometer cable issue...you're also looking at the massive complications involved in transmitting the miles digitally to the odometer whereas the metro clusters are mechanical. That would mean devising a setup that somehow transmits the mechanical miles from the metro speedometer cable into digital miles of the forenza cluster (which the ecu decodes and then displays on the LCD readout). In short, you would have to put the ecu of the forenza into the metro so that it could digitally keep track of the miles instead of a little gear just turning...I can't imagine that would be easy. If you could find a way it would be sick as hell though! :lol

Anyone got access to a FSM for a Forenza? I should Google before I ask, but wth...

Based on this diagram

the fuel gauge, coolant temp, tach, odometer and speedometer appear to run from signals through the ECM, making it super difficult to pull this off. The easiest solution would be to cut it up and put the internals from the Metro/Swift inside. Of course that means moving the speedometer cable input.

Certainly possible, but I have hopes of having it operate through the clusters internal computer. A vehicle speed sensor has to be acquired and successfully installed to test first.

If anyone has an Esteem parts car lying around, I may need your speed sensor. Other Suzuki products may use the needed type of speed sensor as well.

Have fun dude :popcorn If it works I'm stealing borrowing this idea and doing it to my 2000 swift...assuming the task isn't too mammoth for me to take on (I'll just poke around this thread once a week or so)

Can't wait to see how this pans out :thumb
