I picked up this base 1994 Geo Metro with a 5 speed for a decent price. After getting it home and combing it top to bottom I am surprised to see that everything is in working condition on this car (apart from the destroyed window regulators). So I made up a list of what I'd like to do to it and got to work.

- Replace both window regulators
- Paint both upper bumper caps XFi black PARTIALLY DONE
- Paint all 4 rims
- Paint wiper arms
- Clean interior
- Find missing running board plastic/trunk plastic
- Replace PCV valve DONE
- Repair the "radio mess"
- Replace taillight bulbs DONE
- Replace both hood hinges and smooth out the dents

Not bad, El Paso. How do you smooth dents out? Do you use a heat gun method?

Nice car. Looks like hood replacement time unless you're real good with a hammer & dolly.

Awww, thanks guys!!

Also, possibly no need to send wiper arms, assuming I get the one I'm missing or the set from Econoboxer. You pay, I coat and ship, and you send your old arms to me.

Teal? Teal Menace? I would have called it the Teal Deal. BUT---I thought it was green-I would have called it Green Bean. But then I am partially color blind, haha.

Congrats--good looking start for a project..........

I couldn't think of a better name, when I can think of one I'll update it :lol As for the wiper arms, I should have checked this thread before I painted them! I'm going to PM MMM and see about having them coated.

Today, more progress was made on this car. I removed the completely shot old oem speakers and replaced them with Infinity 25's.

Got these from the junkyard for $5 each, they sound alright for the price
Posted Image

Then I took the hood off to realign it and install the new hood hinges I picked up.
Posted Image

Not quite the same color, but they work!
Posted Image

I also repainted the bumper XFi black and took off the wheels to inspect everything. To my surprise I found new tie rods, brakes, cv axels and a host of new other goodies! Very happy about that!
Posted Image

I repainted the rims and added some XFi center caps, looking better than the crusty old hubcaps for sure

Finally I moved onto my final project for the day, tackling the window regulators. They are 100% shot and not even the correct ones for this car so tomorrow I'm heading to the junkyard to pick up some new ones and I'll install them when I get the chance

That's all for today thank god, too much for one day :x

"Tropical"? Really?
Well, then, obviously it's...

The Hoon Typhoon.

Ok, that's actually a terrible name, but it was too funny not to post.

While taking apart the passenger door to fix the window regulator I found an iPod inside the door. No clue how it got there and it's not mine but free iPod! Woo :rocker

Now if I could only figure out these damned regulators! I got a good looking one from a pnp today and installed it (and it does work) but if you roll the window down it hops off the rubber track no matter what I do. It's aligned and everything...it's very irritating :x I'm kinda thinking the tracks are bent even though they look fine but I'll take a closer look in the morning.

Screw holding the bottom of the front rail in place is also an adjustment screw.
Spray silicon is your friend.
look here, probably already discussed and cussed.

Thank you for the links Old Man, some good stuff in there. With the help of that link and some forum knowledge I got the driver's side window working good. It's not smooth as butter but at least it goes up and down straight now. Turns out the PO had a 4 door regulator in there and it didn't work at all. It was in pristine shape though so I scavenged the good parts for my dirty 2 door regulator. I cleaned and reassembled the driver's door and it looks pretty good, even found the roll up window crank/pin in the trunk!

Then I got ahold of a mint passenger solid amber corner light with help from member don_dowdy, a big thanks to him! Gonna replace this smashed one as soon as I get it!

Finally today I took out all the rear interior plastics and installed a pair of speakers I found in my parts pile. They are 6.5 inch speakers but I mounted them anyway (actually I just stuck them inside the quarter panel since they are magnetic and they grip like a vice!) Not perfect I know but it works just fine. Found some monies under the rear seat and got an ice cream cone so that was nice :rocker Sunday is my next day to work on the car so the progress shall commence then!
