i backed up into a guy a few months ago while trying to avoid getting hit by another driver. the other car was a truck so it was fine, but it busted up my tail light. i replaced that tail light that was destroyed, but now both of my reverse lights don't work. i changed them out just in case that was what was wrong with them, the old ones looked fine, but that did not help. any ideas what could be wrong? the accident may not have anything to do with it. |

Did you get to check the ground in the trunk behind the rear trim panel?...

also, check the white clip above your tranny. 2 wires come out of tranny, harness looks identical to the harness for your cam shaft sensor.......this is how your tranny tells the rest of your car that your in reverse. |

the two sensor wires were intact and plugged in. i could not find the ground wires in the rear behind the trim panels, is there a pic that shows where it is? |

If you are certain that this started at the time of the accident, is it possible that your foot got caught on some wiring under the dash? Did you jump out of the car in a hurry by any chance? Start by checking the ground and connectors. Ground for the Backup Lights is the G203 (Junction Block Case Ground under LH Instrument Panel). All three connectors involved in the Backup Light circuit (C8, C202, C213) are under the dash on the left side, either on or near the junction block. 1994 FSM, Section 8A-112, Electrical Diagnosis, Backup Lights |

no, nothing in the box is unplugged or messed up. it was just a tiny bump to the light. |

The only "common" components/wiring in the system that would affect both lights simultaneously are located in the front. After looking at the FSM Electrical Diagnosis section of the FSM, that's where I would be looking. And, after checking each item in the "Troubleshooting Hints" portion of that section, I would use the appropriate diagnostic chart for your condition, but that's just me. |
