I mount and balance them myself as it is real easy to damage tne bead on the extratrac 12 and now 13 inch tires.
Tell us more about balancing your own tires. I keep having balance issues on all my tires and want to start doing them myself.
First off having the right equipment helps a lot. You can get some cheap equipment out there; nothing fancy. The center bar with the slot, (can't remember the name) runs about $80). The cheap balancer with the center level will balance them, but it is more a trial and error type device.

Most problems with Walmart tires is when Walmart mounts them. They don't clean the bead surfaces and they will leak and eventually you get a run flat condition that ruins a tire.

A good or bad brand /type of tire is a good or bad tire regardless of who sells it. And just like the issue of what proper procedures are or are not followed when it is mounted like JM described, the same goes for balancing.

No bubble/level balancer can ever do as good of a job as an electronic spin balancer can when used properly. But someone using a spin balancer incorrectly by using incorrect settings or being sloppy placing the specified weights and/or using the incorrect weight can do the same or a worse job than someone using a level balancer as well as possible considering it's capabilities and limitations.

For me the best solution is not to do it yourself with inferior equipment, but a shop that takes pride in their work and you trust will do the best job possible with better equipment.
