Need help wiring a geo engine I to a sandrail. Thanks for all the help getting the diagram!! it is hard to figure out what key on, etc is. I'm going to upload pictures, ( if I can figure it out ) and diagrams. Also is there a way to know exactly what year a engine is with the ecu numbers or numbers on the engine? I thought it was a 97 but I could be wrong. It is a tbi, 3 cyl with a 5 speed. Also will have a lot of random stuff as extra parts of anyone wants I will get that list together once I know what I do/ don't need. Thanks for the help!! |

I wish i could help you but electrical is not my strong suit. Interesting project though. http://geometroforum.com/topic/4708954/1/ might help with the engine year. |

Let's start here: I would use the factory harness and fuse panels, remove all the tape + remove all the circuits you don't want. Print all the wiring schematics, determine what you need. You only need a simple harness when done. When you shorten the harness solder and shrink your connections for reliability. You can use factory plugs like I did, buy the proper tool and the pins release and snap back in. I would use an aftermarket temp gauge, a big oil light and a charge light like an old VW. White wires are battery hot White wires with a black stripe need to turn on with ignition. White wires with a blue stripe are labeled ign input and supply several circuits this comes off the isca relay on ecm page #9. |

Cool that is awesome info!! So b2 and a26 are 12v constant, a13 is fuel relay. I couldn't find any key on wires looking at the harness picture I have. http://metroxfi.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/6e2-a-5.png Also any sensors that I can remove that won't effect it that you know of ( emissions related stuff) that would be great. Alonso anyone know how to read number on ecu, or is it something just to try to type in a search Thanks so far man!! Great help, I still haven't figured out how to upload pictures yet, |

I would not use that wiring schematic for your 97. Go back to metro xfi.com wiring and use the 97 Swift schematic. Check the wire colors and pin locations in the plugs. If it matches just us it. You need some sensors so don't just hack away. You won't need the second oxygen sensor but you will want to keep the first one. If you can keep the fuel pump pickup in fuel your buggy will run going straight up or down.

I think the one I found was a 4 cyl in the 97 swift. Might be the same but not sure. I will look |

Thanks for all the info so far!! So after digging I didn't see a crank sensor,so I kept digging then found out from the post that this engine is a 94 not a 97. I can't figure out how to post pictures so if someone can walk me threw that they would be great thanks!! |

I tried to upload the images of the wiring diagram from a Haynes service book from autozone still haven't figured out exactly what wires I need to remove, and what what wires I need to send to 12v, key on, fuel relay, etc. any more help would be great!! Thanks Also looked to be sure it is for a 4 cyl on that other website Edited by Geosandrail, Mar 18 2015, 11:41 PM.
