Pardon me if this is a dumb question. I want to change my rusted ground bolts to stainless steel. Are stainless steel bolts good conductor of electricity? |

stainless is not much difference than carbon steel as an electrical grounding metal. |

No stainless isn't as good but you would have a hard time measuring the difference. |

According to the link posted by Hogleg above, carbon steel has an electrical conductivity rating roughly 4.5x > than stainless. |

Make some nipple clips out of stainless and carbon steel. Hook up some voltage to them and then test them out on your privates. You can then decide which clip has a "better" charge. IMO, there is very little difference. Now if the bolt was hot dipped galvanized, then there would be some impeidence. |

dayle did you try hot dipped galvanized on your privates? how would you know then? oh wait you were talking about 2 different things werent you? or were you? maybe you were suggestively admitting it? hhaaaaaa |

So, your original question was asking about the conductivity of ss bolts, someone posts a link to actual data showing that ss has 4.5 x less conductivity than carbon steel, and you decide to spend more money for ground bolts with less than 1/4 the conductivity.

What is the conductivity of rusty carbon steel? Does T3 use stainless for his ground bolts? Assuming he does, does he have any grounding issues, clean them frequently, or any other useful input? Hopefully he'll chime in. |

Won't matter much if the ground wire loop end is touching bare chassis/engine metal anyway... |
