Festiva 12" Alloy Wheels fit 95+ 13" OE Metro?

I have the Festiva alloys and love them.

I was thinking of putting Gen3 brakes on my Gen 2 (91) but don't like the idea of giving up the ability to run 12's on the alloys.

Anyone know if they will clear the "big" brakes?

With upgraded brakes, the 12" rims will not fit. :shake You'll need 13"+ rims. :thumb

Why waste your time with 12'' tires? Put on a set of 175 70 13 tires and marvel at the ride and handling of your car. This is the tire the car should have had from the factory.

Too tall. I have one set remaining of A008 Yokohama A008's (175/70r12) and all I can say is they will break spot welds (!) Once those tires are gone then I won't be so obsessed with the 12's.

HOWEVER, it is SO EASY to score like new 12's for $10-20 a tire.

I do have a new set of Sunny 165/65r13's and have not used them. What I like about them is that they are basically the small diameter of the 155r12's and do not raise the car.

I've had 175/75r13's on it and it leans more (already have front and rear sway bars) and is tougher pulling out here in very hilly SW PA (near Pittsburgh.)

I did a lot of research trying to find small diameter, wide tires. I found the 155/60r15 which would be a pretty decent small tire but would need to find 15" rims. But then the 165/65r13 would put more rubber on the road so why bother?

If I could find even a 175 with the same diameter as the 155r12's, but a 175/75r13 compared to a 155/80r12 is +2 -1 +1 or +2 sizes bigger.

But, I do admit the 175/75r13 is EVERYWHERE.

Plus I've build up a pretty big stockpile of very good 12's which would last me at least 2 more years (!) but I would really like to have a 2000 5-spd G13BB w/AC....

EDIT #2 and a 185/55r14 which is 22.01 Inches tall (!)

I went through all available tire sizes 1-2 years ago and there was virtually NOTHING out there that kept the small diameter of the stock tire. Now, it seems like new sizes are being made all over the place. I guess the Import Car market is exploding in every direction.

One thing about wide tires, it is a lot harder to park the car (turn the wheel) - which is something I just don't like. It also adds a lot of unsprung weight (tire AND wheel) that will be hard on the little suspension components.

Since I drive like crazy road race guy (squealing tires around corners every day), and the damage I did to the car with 175/70r12's, I'm not too eager to subject body to more grip.

Where are you getting new tires for $20?

People are selling off their 12's on Craigslist in my area, Pittsburgh.

I'm in the rust belt and there aren't too many cars left that use 12's. (There's more tires than cars!)

For now. Eventually the cheap 12's will dry up.

Now its not like there are deals 24/7, but 2-3 times a year, I score some nice tires.
