Well it started as a stalling car in downtown Detroit. Thank god it wasn't raining.
After pushing to the side of the road, busing it home. Getting a ticket, installing a new battery and finally seeing a flickering bat light I changed the alternator. All was good me and and my geo.
Following week noise from hell in the rear of car. Pulled drums got them turned rebuilt leaky wheel cylinders and new rear breaks.
Took for a spin feeling like a hells angel on a trip thru the bad lands.

The next day this Monday raining around 6 am got my java in my blue sports car. Car stalls heading downtown on way to work. Yikes
Push to thru inner section, yep free parking. Screw work but it was pouring lightly.
Get car to home.
No spark and can't see eyes shot don't know if fuel also it pulled the fuel line and watch the gusser never thought I would smile seeing gas shoot out of a hose.

Fast forward been cold so since car hasn't had a tune up I install new cap, new rotor, wires plugs and a cheap coil, 89 bucks later ready to test drive the rocket.

No start no spark. Engine turns over and had oil cap off and see it spin.
Besides drinking miracle oil and a chaser of techon please help a guy who drives a metro and loves this forum.
tomorrow clean all ground.
Note this has happened 4 times but the little baby would start
I just want to :drivin
Thanks everyone

maybe you can check your fuses under the hood and I believe there is one on the fusebox-not sure if the ignition has a relay but if it does you can check that too-was the "cheap coil" the right one for your car?

Kinda reminds me of a dying injector, just throwin that out there, when mine was dying I didn't know what the heck was going on, start fine, drive fine, then it was like somebody turned the key off, sit for a while, be fine, became more frequent till I had to get it towed home.. That one lasted 140,000 miles, got my money outa that one, replaced it, my babies back to her old reliable self..

I cleaned all the grounds, the distributor coil had the nuts kind of rounded and looked not new, I installed it last night under a car light. Installed new coil and today she started up. I changed to a more expensive coil, 28.99 but now the problem is gone.
Now I can work on front side markers not working. Running lights not working.

"The Almighty Grounds Cleaner"

did you test the coil before swapping?
"test, dont guess"------MWEBB
1.35-1.65 ohms primary coil resistance @68 degreesF
22.1 - 29.9 Kohms secondary coil resistance @ 68F......replace if bad.

ignition in run. terminal 1 of coil to ground is battery voltage.......if no, check feed wire.

ignition in run. back probe terminal 2 and 4 of the noise suppresor filter to ground = battery voltage. if no, check wiring.

disconnect noise suppressor filter. check terminal 3 and 4 resistance 2.2 Kohm.
terminals 1-2 and terminals 3-4 resistance is infinity
if no, replace.

ignition on. disconnect ignition control module (igniter) terminal 1 to ground = battery voltage.....if no check wire. with a test ligt on battery + probe the ground circuite of the ignition control module. is light off? check ground circuit wires for a open.
if light was on.....test light on battery + probe terminal 3 of the ignition control module. crank engine, does the light flash bright to dim? if yes replace the ignition control module.
if no
check for ashort or open in the ignition trigger signal wire.

if good ecm is next on ther list.......but they are bomb proof......likely you missed something
.................................................................................................
this is the trouble shooting for fuel, but no spark.
this is for 95+
89-94 the igniter is built into the ecm.
different coil, so specs will be different.......later ill look up any differences.
