Check the antenna end carefully.
I can't remember for certain what year they changed antennas, but I think it was 98.
The earlier ones use a standard size "motorola plug", the later ones use a MINI motorola plug.
You can either swap the antenna, too, if it's different from yours, or, purchase an adapter.

Just to clarify, the Clarion unit BOLTS in with no modifications, but still needs to be rewired. Wiring it in is no harder than any other aftermarket unit, but you will have to do some wiring.

If your not up to it, I'm sure Mythstae and her "Wire for Hire" can help. ;)

I certainly do appreciate it. No shortage of help here. :)

I'll see what the PnP has this weekend, hopefully, and update the thread with my findings, or maybe more questions.

Well, I struck out at my usual PnP, as far as "plug-and-play" options go. Of their three Metros, only the '00 still has a radio, and its knobs are missing. They have two Trackers, but the one with a radio is an '03.

The only Suzuki they have is a Forenza, which isn't really a Suzuki at all, but a Daewoo designed and built in South Korea. I'll keep looking, I guess. No rush. ;)

Just for fun, have you seen this thread? A Ford Stereo in a Metro; ...well, why not?
No real point here other than to say that, if you find a stereo you like the looks and function of, don't worry too much about if it's Suzuki or not... it CAN be wired to work in your car.
Ford stereos are a bit of a challenge due to the way in which Ford mounts their stereos; other companies' OEM stereos may be a better choice.
(I have a Toyota stereo I'm playing with at the moment, it appears to be standard 2-DIN.).

Forenza's have the other unit, in a similar style that seems to be sought after:

It blends in nicely with the rest of the Metro.

My other write-up has to do with that one. There is a little more than just bolt and go, but it is a solid unit. ^o)

Ha! I could put a Ranger radio in Ranger! :lol

Yeah, I figured it must be possible to put just about any radio in after seeing what Stiffchezze did to the Reno radio. I mostly just listen to the news in the car, and I was hoping for something that wouldn't need any modifications, but maybe I will end up hacking a nicer radio. It would be a good learning experience.

The unit I saw was a little different, like this:

A little cleaner than that, though. A tape deck, in 2005! :lol I think even CD's were on the decline by then. Car electronics are always so far behind the times. :P

Hey, if you two are looking for another project, see if you can figure out how to get the speed-adaptive volume of an '03+ GM radio to work in a Metro. :deal :evillol

Or, maybe I could try. Oh no... :shtf

Needs signal from the VSS as far as I know.

Show me the radio. Show me a part number on it.
To wire properly, you need a good DIAGRAM.
Can't get a good diagram if you don't know what it is, SPECIFICALLY. ^o)
