I would like your opinion on whether or not I should sell my 92 Geo Metro hit by a 99 Chevy Metro. My 92 Metro is gutted out on the inside and I recently had to purchase new control arms, rotors, drums, etc. I also recently replaced the clutch. the car runs great and I've gotten as good as 50.2 miles per gallon. I'm not getting those numbers right now I'm in the mid forties but I'm wondering if the engine is getting tired out. I have not test driven the 99 yet but I hurt it gets really great gas mileage. they are asking $750 for the Chevy. what do you all think? should I sell my 92 for this 99? |

That's going to depend - The 99 (if in good tune, a 3 cylinder and a manual trans) will get similar mileage to what you are getting now. Personally I like the later body style a bit better and consider it a bonus that it has side impact bars in the doors and airbags which the earlier models do not. Later models also have better brakes and swaybars so they tend to handle a bit better (but those parts can be swapped onto earlier models too). But not everybody sees it that way. What are you hoping to get in a vehicle? |

Like I mentioned earlier, my 92 is in bad shape interior wise. It was bought for a daily driver and I didn't care about the condition. now that I've learned a a little about Geos, I would like to have a little bit more of the luxury things such as AC etceteraand to be my daily driver |

Keep them both. The new one as your DD, the earlier one, a beater. |

well considering the old one is crashed the new one would be better logically. the later metros have a stronger safer body than the older ones the seats are a bit better and the car is mostly the same so you wont have to think all new when repairs are done. |

Keep the 99 and sell the 92. 99 for the win on the safety aspect. Plus the gas mileage is about the same. |

i second that, the mk1 sprints and gtis are super nice in white but the mk2 body style is the best. the 92-94 white GTs are my all time favorite car style next to blue 4 door 92-94 geo metro then white but never red i hate red cars.

I will point out that realistically you should probably expect about 10 mpg difference between the two body styles. Generally speaking, the old body style gets around 50mpg and the newer style gets around 40mpg. |

![]() I was just about to add that. You're not going to get the same mileage from a GEN3 car, figure 5 - 10 mpg less. |

Will the 12 inch wheels from the 92 fit on the 99? I plan on removing the passenger and rear seats for weight. Plus some engine parts to gain a few extra MPGs. That's why I'm hoping I can use the smaller wheels. |
