I'll try to watch that. I only posted this link because Metro people jumping on critics are usually hillarious. People that have never owned them start defending them adamantly. Yes, please. I want to date a vapid dolt who would reject me because I don't look cool and my car is dorky. That's reason enough right there to justify driving a Metro! 40 +mpg on a *bad* day AND it fliters out d-bags? SIGN ME UP. Wow, can it make the Horrid Hoards of Vapidity *never speak to me ever again*? I'LL BUY THREE OF THEM. "Honey, auction the kids off on eBay and mortgage the mansion... WE'RE BUYING METROS." I think Prii are great. I also live below poverty level. But I like simplicity. I can't argue with them about the safety concerns. Also, I don't think Metros look dorky, especially the later hatchbacks. Just my opinion. Edited by supercrust, May 17 2015, 01:30 PM.

*If I could get a Prius for free....... *If it never needed to be worked on...... *If I knew I was gonna get in a serious wreck..... If all three of those conditions were met, then yes, I would rather drive a Prius. |

Prius are great for stealth missions also, can drive up behind some one and they wouldn't hear you- as long as the cooling fans were off, in electric mode they are silent. |

I've never read that article before. That was awesome. I'd say the Prius owners got pwned. I've actually had this on the back of my Metro a couple years now. I love getting in front of Prius's whenever I can, to deal some extra pwnage.

I've seen more Prius's on side of the road than Metro up here and Metro's are pretty common unlike Texasses |

I actually like the new 4 door hatch Prius. I do think the Metro looks goofy. I'd drive either. I know I can't work on a Prius though, so I have no interest in owning one for the long haul. After 100k on the Prius, I'd have to get rid of it before something did go wrong. I barely understand late 80's Japanese electronics in cars, much less post 2010 electronics. |

A fair analysis would include not just a comparison of the number of Prii and Metri on the side of the road but the number of each that are actually ON the road as well. Or how many Prii are in junk yards compared to the number of Metri... ![]() For whatever reason when all the positive and negative factors of owning the typical 20+ year old inexpensive, light, not very crashworthy, minimally powered box of a Metro with replacement parts getting progressively harder to find are considered, they just don't seem to appeal to the majority of the population. I don't understand it. If we can love them so much, why doesn't everyone? What in the world is WRONG with EVERYONE ELSE?

I like Prii. I don't like their price, even/especially used, and I don't like the evil eco-yuppy douche-bags who tend to own them. |

I live in apretty liberal aging-quasi-hippie town, and most of the folks here that have them (in my circle, at least) are not so douchey. But: the are I live in also known to be quite unusual and atypical in general. People have to be kind of bugger-minded to live here, as there's no industry other than an increasingly spoiled and self-entitled-rich-kid University, some solar companies and a company that makes stirling engines, so what would you expect? Anyway, they're often the type of folks that drive Prii and think old gassers like my Metro are still cool, still respect hillbillies, and are unafraid to also own guns. They'll disagree with you, but listen to your POV, think about it and are (GASP!) capable of changing their minds! Many of them, however, are still over-protective and smug nanny-staters who think they've got a leg up on you because they've outgrown the dead and had kids. Sorry, Austin: parenting and a straight job don't mean you have an open mind. Your chosen political causes only matter when you can think about them, and the same goes for the conservative and libertarian folks in the booth across from you at our amazing farmers market. But, see, in Athens they mostly live side by side and at least attempt to keep the bridges open. Every cause on both sides has extemists; think about the others side too- all of you (and myself as well)! Luckily, the folks I deal with will at least discuss the down sides of their hybrids as well. It's a good place to live. They may scoff at the Metro of Doom (I don't think they do), but they appreaciate it for what it is, and are well aware of how much easier it likely is to work on than their Subarus. The hill folks think Metros are great, and I get told at least once a week how reliable they are by other poor people. One of them called it a "Hillbilly Honda". ![]() |

Personally, as a Toyota man, I think they lost their way when they discontinued selling Previas in the United States. I am very biased and unreasonable about this. They never imported the diesels, they never sold an All-Trac that had the double sunroof option and ice box (what?!?), and. most importantly, *they still can't import the Hiace 4wd full size manual transmisson sport van*. Make that a hybrid, plz... I'd still buy a Prius V if I had that kind of dough. But I don't, and I wouldn't get rid of this Metro if I did. It is the closest thing I will ever find to my beloved vintage Fiesta : ( Also, it retains a certain moped flavor I am fond of... but I can take my wife with me, and have a better cruising range ;D Edited by supercrust, May 18 2015, 03:08 PM.

How we all put our minds together on here and fabricate a lightweight roll cage that serves as impact absorber? |

Only if it grafts on to the rocker panels with supports that reach under the control arm mounts. |
