I have limited knowledge on cars and an even more limited tool box. I do have experience with battery drain on these things and it usually has to do with the stupid electrical door locks and belt gizmos getting corroded over time to the point you just jerk all that crap out and tape it off. Not to mention disconnecting the radio and any other thing in the car that could possibly sooth your comfort on the long commute to avoid any other corrosion/your metro not moving anymore battery issues. After a few years things were fine with my two XFi's then one started having battery drain problems. I could not figure out the problem and didn't have time to look into it, so I just took the negative cable off everytime I parked. Finally I got both my '93 metros together and started comparing things. That's when I found one had an air conditioning fuse and one didn't. Neither came with air conditioning, so why did one have a fuse and the other didn't. I tested all the fuses, there was a .5 amp draw somewhere, but pulling all the fuses under the dash did nothing. so when I got to the fuse box under the hood that's when I saw this blue 15amp fuse that was not in my other Xfi. I didn't seem to be connected and I did pull the fuse next to it, so maybe doing that did something. All I know is when I took that blue fuse out the drain stopped. Just putting this here in case someone gets to the point I was and driving the car off a cliff was the best solution. Don't do that yet, look and see the fuse box under the hood, like I said I have two of these cars, exact same year, one had this fuse the other did not...

Did you see where the other side of the fuse connection went to? |

That's what I'm wondering also, since 15a AC fuse should only be fed by the 4th fusible link - that isn't there... ![]() Could it be that some previous molestifying (mystifying molestification) occurred that used the AC fuse slot to feed some mystery system where maybe only some stray wire(s) remain? There should be a red wire from the fusible link D (that isn't installed here) to the AC fuse, then another red wire from the AC fuse to the AC harness connector near the fuse box. I'm not sure the other one should be there either. ![]() Does the XFi fuse box cover indicate something other than a 15a (blue) fuse for the FI (fuel injector relay)? ![]() |
