I normally don't travel on Holidays, but I'm making an exception this weekend. Picture perfect weather forecast, so I'm packing the bike with some camping gear, meeting up.with a couple riding buddies and heading to a motorcycle campground called The Riders Roost.
You're gettin' into my neck of the woods, "Wilkes County", now.

Have you ever riddenBrushy Mountain Rd, in Wilkes County? It's an extremely popular, winding & twisting, mountain road, that's frequented by both sport bikers and Harley bikers.
Yup ridden that road. It connects with 18 I think, and you can catch it an exit or two before I get off 421 in Wilkesboro. The best riding is further west, in the mountains near the Tennessee border and into North Georgia.
Here are a few photos:

We were going to go to the graveyard and pay some respects, then my wife got called into work first thing in the morning. She got off at 11 pm, so we didn't get out.

I blew out my lower back early friday am. Dr office closed for the holiday. I still managed to hobble thru 3 Veterans Cemetery's in my area. It kicked my ass every step of the way. Got to go down and watch the oldest Memorial day parade in the country in Ferndale CA. And watch the ending of the Kinetic sculpture world championship in Ferndale also. Heres a link to the madness. Don't let the funny looking rides fool you, its hard work doing this.

I live just off that road, at the top of the mtn, not far from the VFD and that big brick church beside it. I've never done it on my MC, but I pedaled up and down both sides of the mountain, hundreds of times. I can hit 40mph+ on my bicycle, in some sections, but only for a few seconds, as there's another sharp turn EVERY few seconds!
