There are a lot of topics here about replacing the front wheel pads and rotors on Metro's. You know when you have to force the caliper piston back in so the caliper so it will fit over the new pads? And that caliper is hard to push in? Well I saw a video on Youtube where the guy used a big "C" clamp and it worked perfect. But I had no "C" clamps at all. So I went to the shed and started looking for something to compress that piston. I found the perfect tool and it is inexpensive and works great. It is a caulking gun. I put the end of the gun around where the hose connects and that piece that pumps caulk out on the piston and pumped the trigger and that piston went right in.

Dammit, I want to try that now. But none of my 4 vehicles need a brake job yet!

I use a stearing wheel puller, fits nice and snug, use my impact and its compressed in 2 seconds.

Just a little tidbit though. If a car has ABS, you DO NOT want to just push the piston and fluid back through into the resevoir. Open a bleeder valve and push it out through there. Forcing brake fluid backwards through the system can damage ABS components.

On a Metro I just use my hands to move the caliper before I take anything apart. If it doesn't want to move use a large screwdriver as a lever.

Just another wrench.

My "C" clamp works great but a calking gun... yes, that is truly mental and it worked! So stupid it is not... it worked!
