Finding Good Tires Brain Fart

185 60R 13's seem to be the preferred size for cars from Two of my Forums. The Fiat X 1/9 and the Geo Metro, both seem to benefit from this Tire fitment, but the choices are limited.

How about we start a petition for Falken or Hankook to make this tire size again? I've run one of the last sets of Falken "Zies" 912s on my Geo and are now on the Fiat.

If we can't get them to reboot them, maybe Hankook will retool something we can use instead.

They're probably making their choices on what Current vehicle manufacturers are suggesting as Tire sizes, not what Guys like us really want.

Guess what. We not only outnumber New car buyers, but we tend to buy more tires and other stuff than they ever do.

185 60 13s don't seem to be a very common replacement choice for Metros at all, in part because their overall diameter doesn't match up well with either of the spec tire diameters.

Of the top of my head I would say 175 70 13s used as a substitute for the 155 80 13 diameter are one of if not the most common "non-spec" replacement choices for Metros.

"Dear Mr. Tire Manufacturer,

My friends and I think you should "re-tool" your line to make 185 60 13s again just for us. As you can see, I have 57 signatures on this petition of people who would like to see you do this, and I sincerely believe that there could be as many as 4 of us are actually serious about buying a set.

Thank you!"

Good luck :cheers

How may here have ever even tried Falken ZE 912's on ANY freakin Geo Metro. I liked them so much I took them OFF my Geo and put them on my X 1/9. Now I want MORE. NEXEN 662's just don't cut it for my Driving Style & Needs. the only other options are some Federals or Achilles. I just have a problem putting something named Achilles on my most important footprints, when "Hercules" didn't last as long as advertised.
There is a fine line between a "Reckless" and an "Aggressive" Driver, both tend to flirt with what is "barely legal".

You want 175 70 13 or 185 60 14 as a good replacement. Still not too hard to find & won't break (most) banks.

Have you ever heard the phrase "...and people in hell want ice water, doesn't mean they're going to get it.."

I understand you already have wheels on your car that you like, that probably weren't cheap and you want to get replacement tires that you like and that fit your wheels. It's what anyone of us would want to do. Unfortunately, either the choice of size wasn't very well researched from the standpoint of replacement options or the manufacturer's decided it wasn't in their best fiscal interest to continue a particular tire and/or size that was once available. Maybe it was just bad luck for you that they are no longer available, but the fact remains that they aren't a common Metro replacement size at all and :shit does happen. If you can't find what you want in the size you want, move on to plan B. Buy a tire that is available in that size or buy new wheels and available tires to fit.

Maybe if you can convince the manufacturer of how horrible your life will be if you can't get what you want, they will be moved by your passion and loyalty and will find you a left-over set hiding in a warehouse somewhere and you can go back to being the Ken Block of the Metro world. Just don't be shocked if a multi-billion dollar a year company won't make a decision to lose money because of something some guy with a couple of cars wants, unless you personally have a checkbook big enough to pay to re-tool a line for a handful of tires or are famous enough to justify that cost for marketing purposes.
Good luck :cheers

Pretty sure that's what I had on the Magnum Metro, size 195/50-15. I loved them, but it was a nice weather car.
Posted ImageSee? No wipers. B-)

They were treacherous in the snow, but then again, they were VERY big for the car. If memory serves, they came in two different tread compounds, 60 and 70 series were UTQC 480, 50 and below were 400.
