Thinking about upgrading in the house from CFL's..... led's seem to be getting more affordable..... anyone tried these or have suggestions?

That's a great price. I would not hesitate to buy them. I use a couple of LED bulbs at home but I don't think they were that inexpensive.

Havent used the ones you are referring to but---

They have these on sale for $13 -- they are great.
--Commercial--bright white--housing and everything screws in place of a bulb (or hard wire it)--finished product--looks nice--they say 50,000 hours:

I have vaulted ceilings in the main part of my house and I replaced some halogen bulbs with some LED in our light fixture above our kitchen table and have been very happy with them. Almost just as bright.

I just bought those bulbs and was very happy with them after finding others that had a strange color to them, definitely worth 4.97 each which is what they cost, 4.97 each not for two.

I see it, I also just bought a pack on thursday and it was just shy of ten dollar.. you can bet I was looking for the $5 two pack.. misleading advertising, or maybe a better buy online?

My grandparents have them in their house. I wouldn't know the difference if they hadn't told me. Probably saving a lot on their bill. Should pay for themselves in no time. LEDs are awesome in my opinion and no glass to break anymore.

Grr

stay away from the phillips. less efficient than a good CFL and costs more and possibly with a shorter lifespan (they overdrive them pretty badly)

get the CREE bulbs. better quality better lumens per watt available in warm or day white $4 a pop on sale right now in my area.

house is already 100% LED work is just about 100% LED and our electric bill was $376 last month. we have NEVER had an electric bill lower than $650. ever.

Damn $650 that's more than my rent for 2 RV spots ($500 half acre) my electric bill ($52) and insurance on my F450 ($40) still got some left over for good bottle of boubon :cheers I switched my 500 watt halogen bulb out for work light to LED only 200 watts now but brighter and doesn't set stuff on fire.

Lowes had/has a sale on LED's around here. 60 watt for $2.98. I bought 9. Plugged one into a table lamp and it had a nice glow. The 75 watt were about 8 bucks and the 100 watts were around $10. Ugh. But I did like how the LED's performed. Plus looking on the packaging it seems the 60 watts draw only 7.5 watts of electricity.

I'm pretty sure I've seen several people use those in aquatic planting with good success. Obviously your mileage will vary because it was used for more than just viewing light.

I just ordered 10 2-packs. If they are indeed 2 per pack you can't beat $2.50 each for a 60W LED bulb that only draws 8.5 watts and a average 10K hour life.
