wow. I might have to change my mind on phillips it seems it is 800 lumens 8.5 watts. that is 94 lumens a watt which is quite excellent!! I wonder if they have a 40w equiv version at this efficiency.

10,000 hours is a deal breaker for me though. I prefer not to touch a bulb that is under 50,000 hours unless it is REALLY cheap.

I might have to see if I can smoothly dim them. run 2 8.5w bulbs and dim them till they both consume 8.5 watt together which should greatly extend their lifespan.

interesting.

I bought two GV LED bulbs at Wally world today while out shopping, 100 watt equivalent to change out my CFL 60 watt equivalent bulbs, I might need to break the sun tan lotion out :bananaburn and get some B-) now.

These lights work very well and they do seem brighter than a 60W bulb. I will be buying more to finish replacing the remaining incandescent and CFL bulbs in the house.

Just got home with two boxes (four bulbs). They are pretty nice...and from what i've read online they will only stay this price for 90 days starting May 1st.

Self-Declared "Genious"

Don't mean to sound like the odd one out here, but anything is better than CFL's. Can't stand them! When I caught wind that the Gov't was getting rid of incandescents, I went down to all of our local hardware stores and bought out every 60 watt on the shelves. I must have over $300 dollars worth of discount double life incandescent bulbs stacked up in my storage unit. I truly don't know what I will do when I run out of them. I might just switch to gas lights :D

once they mature you are going to like LED's mt999999

not only are they instant on off (so much so that if your power "blinks" from the grid you will actually see the bulbs flash)

but more importantly you will be able to "fine tune" them to absolutely any color in the spectrum you want in any color in any shade any temperature.

right now bulbs like that are rather expensive (the CREE soft/day bulbs are shockingly good for each spectrum however you might want to give them a shot)

it is not here yet and customizable ones are not truly full spectrum yet and are expensive but it IS coming and people like you who are picky about their color truly will love these bulbs.
