Well I have to say I have had to give the Metro back to the wife as her broken wrists have healed and she can now drive the Metro again. SO I found a 96 Prizm with 167,000 miles, 5 speed, cruise control, ice cold AC, excellent maroon paint no body damage or rust. My first calculated MPG she did 372 miles on 9.13 gallons that's almost 41 MPG! REALLY! This was a mixed tank probably 1/3 in town 2/3 highway with considerable 70 mph with cruise on and about a 1/4 of the tank with the AC on. I was expecting somewhere around 36 but over 40! Wow I am totally amazed! Anyone else out in metro land have experience with this kind of MPG out of a Prizm? |

Can't say I have. I can say I have mistaken a Prizm for a Chevy Metro like a million times at the scrap yard. |

I had a '90 Prizm with the 1.6 and 5 speed. I got 36 MPG average, but on highway trips I could get mid to high '40s. They are a Toyota Corolla. |

My girlfriend bought a '93 Prizm we found for sale on Craigslist. It was only a few blocks from us. I had just taught her to drive, and it was her first car. Paid $500. She drove the hell out of that car for a couple years, and all I had to replace on it was a thermostat and a headlight bulb. It was getting a little tired and needing a clutch when it was rear-ended and totaled. Saved me the trouble of having to put a bunch of time and money into it, but it was a great car. |

LOVE my Prizms. I had a 91 for years that I sold for 3 times what I paid and I loved having that thing, the 5 speed got me around 40 mpg with the AC on. My current toyota corolla gets 40 mpg with the AC on also and it has 260000 miles! Very dependable cars for sure. A tad safer to drive than the metro as well, not by much though
