A friend of mine has Windows 10 on his PC. It is a brand new gaming something or another. I don't really care for the side bar thing that still pops up. |

I read that MS skipped Windows 9 because it would make for confusion with Windows 95 which was a dog. I have the current version of Windows 10 on 2 laptops. And my laptop with Windows 7 has been getting the icon to reserve my copy of Windows 10. I went into the updates and removed 2 updates to get rid of it. I'm not sure what happens with Windows 10 on July 29, 2016. The year they promised will be over and are they going to ask for some money at that time? They are not continuing with Windows Media Center anymore and I still do not like those square tiles in the start menu, even though I use a 3rd party start menu that is identical to Windows 7. The more they change 10 the more it looks like Windows 8. |

I personally run Windows 8.1 on everything I own. I will admit that the INTERFACE SUCKS! It is called Metro by the way, just so you know. The first thing I do is install a 3rd party program called Classic Shell. You can make your 8 system look and fell just like Windows 7 and it is free. Under the hood, I believe Windows 8 is probably the best Windows OS to date. If you have modern hardware like an Intel Core i series processor and an SSD, your computer will have much better performance than with 7. With Classic Shell you won't even know it isn't Windows 7. Yes, there are several like Classic Shell but that is my favorite. I would probably never have gone to Windows 8 without Classic Shell or similar as the interface is a total dog. As for performance, it is a much better OS under the hood so is well worth installing Classic Shell. Conor |
