I can assure you that if you drive it like a sane person with a mind towards fuel economy you will easily get 38++ mpg, had ours since day one. |

I fully get what your saying because when I was doing 55 I did get 45MPG , BUT where I live the speed limit is 70 MPH and that will tax the MPG on a 3 cyl metro like nothing else. Speed on these cars just like any other car kills MPG. I remember when I was working at Toyota of Manhattan Beach and this lady came in just pisssed off at the fact that her Yaris was not getting the MPG's that was advertised. After talking to her I convinced her to let me take it home and drive it for the evening from a full tank of gas. The Yaris by the way is another nice little car with great MPG potential ! Anyways I drove this thing all the way down to San Diego and back and got like 35MPG so when I gave it back to her the next day I told her my outcome and she was upset that she was only getting like 30-31 . She did however realize that she was a bit heavy in town on the pedal and I did my MPGs on the frwy at night going 65 MPH all the way. And by the way I was told by the factory rep from Lexus on how the manufacture did it's real world MPG tests, and it's on an oval track. |

Not to say the manufacturers don't use other testing methods during development, but that's not how the EPA testing is done to obtain EPA fuel economy ratings EPA test numbers are obtained in the manner the EPA describes how they are obtained. |

Ive owned several Hondas & have found that I easily meet or exceed their mileage ratings. Other brands, not so much. My 2001 four door Civic got 40-42 every spring & summer, even with ac running. That was on a commute to work on country roads, no stop lights, not exceeding 55. Winter mileage, 37-38ish. If you're looking for something as new as a 2012, skip over that year & get a 2013. The 12 got really slammed by everyone because Honda cheaped out that year on the interior. Very many complaints. So many that they did a quick refresh. Google it & see. A couple years ago, my brother was looking for a used Civic, some maybe one or two years old. He was able to make out better buying a brand new one. .09% interest rate & a brand new car, plus the older ones had such high resale value. Just saying. Every year Honda has a good deal with financing (if needed) & good prices. Usually in December. |
