Anyone have a good value estimate on Chevy 350 short block w/ 4 bolt rods?; Going to sell on CL or similar

I have a Chevy 350 shortblock with the 4 bolt rod caps. Anyone have a good estimate as to what this is worth to someone if I sell it through Craigslist or another local classifieds site? I figure people here are more likely to know.

I also have an oil pan, some pushrods, lifters, and such to go with it. I don't have the casting number in case that makes a difference but could get it.

Thanks,

Conor

Don't be a "Richard"

Make sure you advertise to the racing crowd, those 4 bolt mains are looked for pretty hard up here in Minnesota.

I thought all those would be gone by now. Back in the 70s EVERYONE was looking for one to put in the short track racing circuit. Yes, get the numbers and if you can get history of the block also

if its an uncut block and crank I would say $350 to start, look at the last 3 numbers on the bell housing end look for 010 this is a pretty popular casting that chevy used from 1970 till the 80s in lots of stuff. if you can determine weather the crank is cast or forged then a forged crank will likely double the value, again if it is standard measure never been cut, also the 8' diameter balancer has a little value. what did this come out of?

I have NO IDEA of any of the history, if it has been bored, or any of that. Will there be a number on the end of the crank? The crank looks cast to me. It has that bumpy texture on the non-machined surfaces. It was part of a trade. I knew a 4 bolt would be desirable so I took it.

The casting number is GM 14010207. I see this is a 1980-1985 model. Don't know much else...

Found a video to tell the difference. Will go check in a bit cast vs forged but it is a two piece rear main seal if that makes a difference.

207 is all over the block and is the last part of the main casting number. H36 and 201 are on the rear end of the block. There is no 010.

a wide line on the crank is known as forged, a thin line is cast, and yes about 350 for a bare block is about right, ive been watching them lately and yes for a good, clean, magnafluxed block ,that is checked and pressure tested is worth about 350 bare without a crank.

make sure you advertise a 4 bolt main and not 4 bolt rods, ive never seen 4 bolt rods, and i dont want you to look un educated.

Oops! I see I did that. Had a lot on my mind today as it was a busy day. It is definitely a cast crank based on my research and what I was told here.

Anyway, it is up for sale now without that error. No 4 bolt rods on this one!

Do you think the $400 price for the bare block plus all the extras is a bad deal?

Also, I found a video which made it quite clear if you had a 1 piece rear main seal, forged vs. cast crank, etc. I was curious what the big advantage/disadavantage is to the one vs. two piece rear main seals. Mine has the two piece which has the odd looking flange. The one piece is perfectly round like the ones on the Metro.

with the 2 piece rear main seal, you dont have to pull the tranny to fix the seal, with a one piece rear main seal, you have to pull the tranny, and there are alot of other things different on a newer block, hot rodders are beginning to like the newer blocks but most still like the older blocks with 2 piece rear main seals, hence they bring more money for the older blocks.

OK, so mine is more desirable with the 2 piece rear main seal?

only slightly more desirable but that block looks all stock and never cut so I think your price is fair. definitely a later model block with the tell tale blue paint, note the freeze plugs are the same color, this is what I am basing the uncut opinion on.
