No, but that isn't the point. There are plenty of conditions that leave someone with limited endurance that aren't related to "lazyness", which is what he is professing to be pissed about. Is it possible that this chick is not in the least handicapped? Of course, (and her actions don't seem to support the idea that she needs it) but that isn't what Robertino was saying he is pissed about. What he says is, "Take some time , the next time you are at the store and notice who parked in the Handicapped spots. You'll see these people walking out of their cars with out any issues. PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH :-/" There is a really good possibility that he is directing his anger at people who walk fine, but aren't supposed to be exerting themselves more than necessary. I do play devils advocate when I see that the other side of an issue has a valid stance and deserves some consideration, that isn't the case here. There are people with medical conditions that get notes left on their cars and their cars scratched because of the mistaken belief that they are using the spot when they don't deserve to. Without access to their medical records you can't know what their situation is. They have to have a doctors recommendation to get the plate, so if you want to be pissed at someone be pissed at the doctors who aren't as thorough as they should be. Or, better yet, the people who park in handicapped spaces without a placard, who just park in the aisle, or who take two spaces on the closer half of the parking lot, etc etc. |

Seems like you enjoy instigation fights in here, don't know how you made moderator but I think it's time to relinquish the position. I don't want it and not going to play semantics with you, I spoke my piece so enjoy picking at it to try to make it to what you want.

Seems like you are incapable of a simple discussion of the issues. I am a moderator because I am consistently helpful and I am effective at taking care of spammers, partially because I am here a lot. And no, I won't be relinquishing the position. Semantics? And here is where I'll be helpful; Click on my name, go to profile options and click ignore member. After that I will not make you angry anymore. |

No I don't think you got the notion of my anger Metromightymouse. I'm pissed at those folks that I see that walk out with a pep in their step out of their car ! I can tell when someone truly needs it ( but we won't go into the details of that). If you are overweight or fat from diabetes and I can tell you are having a hard time moving , then by all means take the buggy and the space, If your face is squinting as you take a few steps , then by all means take the buggy and the space ! if you are old with a cane TAKE THE BUGGY and the space ! I'll give you an example...I went out a few weeks back and I was waiting for a parking space and this lady just pulls in and takes it , gets out and with her entire family and just moseys on her way...no-one has a cane, a limp,a wheel chair, a walker nothing !! How would you feel is you were handicapped and can't walk or have a hard time and you just witnessed this ? So what condition do you think this lady had Metromightymouse that would merit her use of the buggy and probably the Handicap space, given the fact that we have her on video as Coche Blanco said " Opening a can of whoop ass " Obviously she can walk, stand and throw down for what looked like a few minutes. Okay I ask this then. Why don't those people have their own chairs? This is a topic I am interested in. 8 times out of 10 the person in the Walmart wheelchair is severely overweight. 1 of the remaining 2 times it's someone I don't 'think' needs the chair, and then the remaining time it's someone with a cast on their foot or something that I can understand. |

Fair enough, your anger originates from a different place. You are still making assumptions about people that you have no way to know what their real situation is. As I said, most of the time you would have no idea my mom had anything wrong with her. There are plenty of people like that. If they have the plate, a doctor had to sign off on it. While it's possible that the person you see took the plate or scammed a doctor for it, but directing your anger at someone who may or may not deserve it seems a waste. If you are just pissed that there aren't any parking spots, that is reasonable, but being pissed at people who could have a legitimate issue and don't deserve it is a disservice to them and you. As for what her issue is, I don't know because I don't have access to her medical records. The only thing we know is she is in a scooter. We don't know if she is parked in a handicapped spot, whether that Wal Mart states that only handicapped people can use the carts, or any other truly pertinent details. She doesn't look terribly handicapped in the video but again, there are any number of things that could be wrong with her, or for that matter, not wrong with her. We have no idea if she is handicapped or not.
Scooters are very expensive and not everyone can afford their own. The store likely doesn't require you to be handicapped to use one, since they are trying to increase sales and provide access for everyone, even the lazy ones. It is human nature to judge others and that is what we are getting at here. It is easy to look at the overweight person and decide that they are lazy and shouldn't be in the cart and ought to be walking for the exercise, but that is rarely the whole story. My weight jumped around 40lbs when my back went out from driving a truck. It's weight I've never lost. There are a lot of self perpetuating situations here. Medical issue lays you up, you put weight on, the extra weight slows you down, makes it harder to do things, and then the embarrassment of, oh God, going out in public while fat, and then you're depressed and don't want to leave the house and on and on. It's just sooo much easier to assume they are fat lazy slobs with no good reason to be in the cart. Makes you feel better about yourself. This isn't an accusation, it's an observation. Fat people look at really fat people and think "well at least I'm not like that". Really fat people look at people that have to use scooters and think "well, at least I'm not that immobile yet". It is just natural to look at others and find ways to look down on them. Less anger at our fellow man would be a good thing, wouldn't it? |

OK I'm one whose guilty of riding those carts back in 2012 while preggers, I didn't have a placard or anything but my condition that I had during the pregnancy had me out of breath quickly n even was recommended by my high risk ob. Doctor to take the opportunity to use them when I go shopping...I had vasa previa, I couldn't have a natural childbirth w/o running the risk of losing my baby, I spent my last month in the hospital because it was that serious of an issue...at the time I lived on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex w/o an elevator...so yeah I took advantage of those carts when I could n even a little afterwards cause my back would hurt from all the bed rest I had...n also having scoliosis made even more painful... So basically I'm saying u really don't know why someone needs those carts but looks can be deceiving n that's what angers a lot of people since u can look healthy yet something medically can be wrong....but this video might have let the cat out of the bag if she was looking to get state funds for a non-existing condition, lol... |

MMM thanks for your insightful comments, I totally agree with much of what you said, people are to quick to judge/assume. having said that I feel confident the "Lady" in the mobility scooter is working the system if she receives any type of assistance. Edited by 68custom, Jun 12 2015, 09:52 AM.

Agreed. Kinda falls under the same thought process as our legal system. I would rather not hate on someone who deserves it than to hate on ones that don't. If we rage at a bunch of people because we think they don't deserve the parking spot but they have a legitimate issue it is a disservice to them and us. Robertino, I think the better solution, if you run into this issue frequently at the same location, is to take a picture and talk to the store management about additional parking. I would think that has a much better chance for a positive outcome than just getting worked up at random people. |

I had left the video run to the end and didn't close the tab, and after that they played a local news clip thatsaid how many arrests they had made at that Walmart last yer. Something like 700+, and they were up over 400 already this year. @ cops on average on calls to that place at any given time. What's wrong is not "retail." That's not got squat to do with how people choose to behave. "Walmart made me do it?" ![]() What's wrong is the people who behave like this and steal and require a city and the taxpayers to drain their $$ and law enforcement resources on a constant basis because PEOPLE seem to be behaving more and more badly every day. Not "people in retail stores like Walmart." People. They are everywhere. |

Not all of them silly. Start with the ones that would fit right in on the Jerry Springer Show or any "reality show" like the Jersey Shore. Maybe throw in parents who doesn't whup their kid's butts for misbehaving or washing their mouth out with soap for speaking disrespectfully to anyone. |
