If the price of an Elio with a clean sheet engine and transaxle design is going to be 6,800, then a chassis kit with no engine/transaxle should only cost about $93, right?

In my area there is someone driving around a pretty hot looking red and black three wheeler. It looks like a factory job... open cockpit with two seats side by side in the front area. It looks very cool. The dude who owns it must have a fair amount of doe as he lets his hi schooler drive it around sometimes. It sits up off the ground pretty hi and the tires look like car tires not motorcycle tires. I will try to get a picture on my phone next time I see it. He lives somewhere near my location. |

If you side swipe a regular car to that degree the tire and connecting rods will have to come apart as well to get the wheel to come off, ant gonna happen.... something's got to break apart first and in the accidents I have seen those parts do not break apart at all... those parts hold no matter what but just mangled badly. I would expect the same on this prototype..... you hit it straight on and you are just going to mangle it not break it off, some of the off road tube cars have their tires hanging out the same but the don't seem to come off even when mangle up terribly. |

actually, the mill that elio shows has the benefit of multiport direct fuel injection, 3 injectors on long port intake runners. it might very well make 84 hp.

Elon Musk is living in mansions and spending lavishly - on the tax payers dime. Once the subsidies end, I think Tesla is will probably fail. Prius had no subsidies. Make A Tour Of Elon Musk's $17 Million Bel Air Mansion http://www.businessinsider.com/photo-tour-of-elon-musks-house-2014-11 |

I saw one of these in Colfax, Washington, about 20 miles from Idaho, near Pullman, Wa. It was eye catching, that's for sure!!

Elon Musk made His mansion level money before he ever did anything that deserved or received any government subsidies. Prius is a Japanese product and would need to seek a subsidy from Japan not the US govt. I am not saying that there is nothing crooked in how subsidies are distributed to various companies, but the idea is that the companies receiving them are either bringing some technological advantage to the US or the potential for the jobs to be farmed offshore makes giving the company a bump worth the cost. Ask the state of Texas whether it works. You could also discuss it with pretty much any city with a major sports team if the cost of all the kickbacks is worth it. |

BB and MMM, I don't think that is it. It somehow seems bigger than that close up. It seems like a very robust piece of equipment. That is the Polaris 3 wheeler motorcycle. In the Polaris 3 wheeler you sit low. The one I have seen you sit up high above the wheels. I got to find that thing, it is in my hood, maybe I will drive around and see if it is parked in front of someone's house. Edited by nwgeo, Jun 16 2015, 09:32 AM.

On the contrary, if the legal definition of a motorcycle is based on number of wheels on the ground at any given time (as it is in Ohio and I believe most if not all states), and not engine size or "how many other vehicles have the same type of engine," then it's pretty easy to say it's a motorcycle. Because it is. ![]() It may be quite the cool looking, butt-kicking, good performing and handling motorcycle with an relatively advanced technology engine, but it's still a motorcycle.
